2 day Priority Mail just a waste of money

Just seems the mail delivery is only going downhill.. only about 40 % of 2 day Priority packages arrive within 2 days ..some come 3 days others 3-4 days.. This is even though P.O sits between 2 large Post Office processing areas 5 miles apart
how are others faring ?

If you want a guarantee, use the Express and pay for that. If it isn't there when they say it will be, you get a refund.
Or, use UPS/FedEx. Good luck with any insurance or other issues, but they are there to be used if you want.
I, myself, 100% prefer the USPS for both ends of the transaction.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Very nice, compared to what I was seeing a couple of years ago. YMMV.
<< <i>As Tom says above, it is an estimate. It should be taken as such.

which is my point ....if post office can't deliver they sell and what I you pay for.... maybe 1st class is better and just as fast at less cost
<< <i>Priority mail is just a higher priced first class. Priority just starts at a certain weight is all. It is advantageous when you can use the flat rate packaging. It's always best to carefully assess what you're sending and decide which service gives the most/best bang for the buck. >>
None are guaranteed in 2 days! Go ahead and use UPS or Fed-Ex who don't insure coins and see how you do! I know there are some crappy Post Offices...but most are not and mine is excellent!

You neglect to entertain the part of Priority Mail being just an estimate, so you really have no point yet. The USPS has never guaranteed a particular day for PM, only Express Mail as already mentioned. As others have said, if you do not like the service, then you are free to go elsewhere. The USPS has never failed me during my entire life of using them. One misplaced package showed up 3 weeks later. One so-called empty package was paid out by the USPS. That's it in 37 years. Not a bad track record. I bet the other services cannot say the same.
No matter where I send something, if I send it Saturday, it is always there Monday. (As stated above.) I think that is amazing, and I sometimes wonder who's running the place on the weekends. Are they using contract workers on the weekends? Grade school kids? Something is working.

It must have something to do with commercial airline scheduling.
a deterioration of their service. Hope we are not going in that direction.

That's my preferred day of shipping.....Saturday.
It's always there on Monday bright and early.
I have had this experience at least 30 times......Baltimore to CA or WA for the most part.
bank that the mortgage was always late on his new house. It never happened at his old house and he used the same bank. He finally figured out it was his post office that
was not getting the mail out when he started using mail boxes in other towns and never had another problem. He confronted the postmaster and of course nothing is their fault.
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
USPS priority is probably the best deal going bar none.

Me too. I have had excellent service (and luck) with the USPS.
<< <i>Priority is awesome. 2-3 days max! Registered. Well that's a whole different beast. I can ride faster by bike. I live in NH and CAC is in NJ. When I send them coins Priority they get it next day, sometimes the second day. By contrast they sent me my coins back registered on Friday, it's Wednesday and I still don't have them. It takes usually 5-7 days from NJ. When I used to send registered to PCGS...a week minimum, sometimes longer.

I'm in Mass, and I have had nothing but good luck with Priority. Only once has it taken more than 3 days, and that took 4 days. Our hosts have sometimes gotten my coins in 2 days, and I usually never ship on Friday, and I'm usually racked out Sat from Friday night, so can't make the noon bell for a Sat P.O. drop off.
edited...mercurydimeguy, I notice ALL my mail gets routed to Nashua first, then off to it's destination. Perhaps that's why you have such good luck.

how about this analogy... you buy a coin for price on ebay at a grade listed./... . seller sends a poor quality coin not the one promised.. the seller says if you don't like the coin .. then pay more .. you will get a better coin and be happy..
Delivery times are reference points, that's all.
It is frustrating when you want to get something you bought, and paid for, but it takes an extra couple days because of shipping, but come on, really? In the internet world this would qualify for a post to #FirstWorldProblems.
Oh no!!! My coins didn't come today. Call the police!!! I've been wronged!!
Ok I'm joking around, obviously, but seriously Priorty Mail is still the best price/service combination available.
I have no complaints whatsoever with the USPS. I've never had a package lost or stolen, never had contents come up missing, etc.
delivered and signed for in 1 day.
I guess I'm too busy with work to worry about an extra day here or there. And it's not a waste of money
(for stuff over 13 ounces) when you consider there aren't really any cheaper alternatives for that class
of service.
which makes up for any deficiencies in delivery time in my world.
It showed en route in the am from a central PO
then nothing.
No Sat. delivery, no scan.
Then the holiday.
It finally scanned in as arrived at the PO on Tues. -- a mail day late and no explanation why it took over the holiday to travel 40 miles.
