Unopened BBCE listings ending this evening

I know a lot of you are keeping an eye on these consignment auctions, and some of you might even be planning a move. I've been paying attention to a lot of them as well, but the 79 OPC box is the one I've really zoomed in on. That said, a high bid came in today from 3***o (33), and either there is a ginormous coincidence taking place or this very box was listed by this individual back on May 5. Interpret that as you may, but also be aware that the 80T cello box currently listed also came from him. He hasn't joined the action where that particular box is concerned (at least not under the frou333 account), but it's something interested parties need to keep in mind moving forward.

I wasn't able to make a connection with any of the other current listings based on his completed history as a seller, but do note that he has also entered the bidding fray with this box.

A little food for thought for those seeking out an acquisition tonight. Good luck!

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

Shill bidding your item in this market for unopened product is the height of chutzpah. Good catch, Stephen.

    image busted.
  • Interesting.

I had made a few offers on some of his OPC hockey boxes he had listed awhile ago. He contacted me about an off ebay sale. Tried to pressure me into higher prices by saying he had sold multiple boxes at much higher prices "just in the past few hours." I upped my offer a bit (which he seamed agreeable to) and asked for pictures of ALL the boxes and which I'd be getting if I bought them. He said he'd get back to me later in the day. Never heard back.

    EDIT for me bad grammar.
  • Wouldn't Steve want to know if a consignor is shilling his auctions ?

At one point I was a bidder on this item, but once it reached the $700 mark - I became a seller. Pretty amazing! But I do feel that with the current prices of topps unopened - OPC prices won't be far behind.

Sunday at 2:45 I just walked into the office. This is the first I have been alerted about this.

As you can probably figure out, this would not be something that I would approve of and it has been taken care of. It will not happen again.

There is no reason for me to sugar coat this. It happened, there is no control over anything that I could do to stop it. However, now that it happened, it has been taken care of. It wont happen again. However, lets be real here. Any auction, by anyone (Probstein, PWCC, Memory Lane, Mile High, Ebay, Heritage, Uncle Joes Garage Sale) can have something like this happen to. The only thing that any of us can do is make the consignor stop bidding. But the truth to the matter is that any consignor, in any auction, at any time, for any reason, can have his Brother-In-Laws next door neighbor on the other side of the Country bid on his items for him. There is no "perfect" way to have any auction go through for the house (being me or any other auction company) that this can't happen. It is what it is. The next time any of us can walk on water, we will make sure it doesn't happen.

However, if an auction of mine ends and it is then determined that someone "won back" an item of theirs, they better be prepared to pay me my consignment fee to get their own item back. There will be no "wink, wink, can you just ship it back to me" kind of auction.

If I ever have an auction of my own, the rules will have more disclosure on "what the street rules are" along with the usual legal mumbo-jumbo.

So, if anyone out there wins these 2 auctions and doesn't want the item, just tell me. I'm not going to end these auctions as I believe there will probably be more of these same 2 items to come in the future.

Glad this issue was taken care of. The closing prices were all very strong. Thankfully, I won a large item on SCP Auctions last night (not a card), so I couldn't be tempted to add to my budding rack pack collection. I really would have enjoyed the 1978 and 1979 boxes, but even if I hadn't won an item last night, I don't think my bids would have held.
Always buying 1971 OPC Baseball packs.

If this criiscross guy replies to anything here again: the above reply should be given without anything further.

I, on the other hand lost out on a couple of big items from SCP and Heritage earlier in the week. So even though I own very little unopened product I couldn't help myself and won the 1979 cello box.

<< <i>Whatever do you mean, Arthur? If you think I have an agenda, spill it. Otherwise don't hide behind your keyboard and your can of Shasta. >>

Your agenda is that of a typical troll. You're aggressively contrarian to stir up drama while you lob foundless accusations and insults as you hide behind your anonymity. The drama you create gives you some warped sense of self-importance that your real life has yet to provide. No one takes you seriously and this causes you to act out even further. For some reason, you've chosen Steve and BBCE as one of your targets.

So keep making your posts on internet message boards if that's what gives you a sense of importance. But the above paragraph is true, and everyone here knows it. Including you.

Wait now, everybody hold on and take a step back for a second. I'm having a really hard time believing what I'm reading here, and if what's written is true then that changes how we move forward not only as hobbyists, but as people..... They still make Shasta?

Lol- I was thinking the same thing! And why is that an insult, am I supposed to drink that same old soda?

With the 70s material shooting up in prices, OPC isn't any different.

Hey Steve - Thanks for being on top of it. Does this mean you'll no longer accept consignments from this guy?

Wonder what an unopened case of that would go for?
