A very brief GSNA show report

First I commend the GSNA troup for putting this show on...its never easy and the group works hard to bring in a nice assortment of dealers, however I think Mother Nature just did not want to be friendly this year....with Friday storms and Sat so nice 70 and sunny it seemed that quite a few dealers felt attendance was way down. I had a few piece to sell and maybe dealers were starving for some nice material as I sold everything I brought in within 15 minutes making my bag lighter and giving me more time to show around trying to buy something, anything...come on there must be something that I could find........well sorry to say that would not be the case I think the only thing I managed to pick up was 20 tubes for Morgans that i needed to put a recent purchase from last week into some order..... I could not even bring myself to buy the $6 dollar ham sandwich that looked like it had seen much better days. On a off not from coins if anyone in the area is having a problem with these awful "stink" bugs... I have found the most fun solution...its called bugzooka and I only wish I invented it...if you have these nasty creepy crawlers in your home...order one of these gadgets today..... well hope to see everyone down at Baltimore in a few weeks...til then remember there are two sides to every coin!

Thanks for the report, Jon.. I was there for a few hours Friday and it was pretty quiet. I have had luck finding nice coins at this show in the past from unexpected dealers but no such luck this year. Always have fun window shopping though, even at coins I have no interest in purchasing. It was torrential rain at the end of Friday -could not have helped attendance.

Usually the food at the GSNA show is pretty good - perhaps it was an off day?

I'm surprised you didn't try to wrestle his MS-66+ 1794 large cent away from Bill Shamhart.

Dave, there are protocols LOL there was in all fairness a rather nice pioneer gold piece on the floor that I had some interest in ....and I agree usually the food is fine there...I was just looking to grab something to take with me LOL

I was there Friday morning.

Some dealers did not set up.

A few dealers inventory stood out in my mind.

Bill Shamhart showed me a fantastic Hawaii PCGS/CAC coin. The toning was fabulous and NT.

Also an original and awesome 1877 10c PCGS MS-66+ gold stickered CAC!

I was trying to figure out why PCGS did not 67 the coin. Simply old fashioned technical grading by PCGS and frankly quite tough on the coin. This coin will someday be in a 67 holder.

I couldn't make it due to work/kids/school. My dealer friend said there were lots of medals, but not much in terms of PQ coins.

It was also HS Prom weekend in many of the surrounding areas and College Graduations. People had other things to do
