Check out my New Interesting Penny Exonumia!

ThePennyLadyThePennyLady Posts: 4,516 ✭✭✭✭✭
Recently picked up these very cool pieces for my exonumia collection. If I can work them in, I'll add them to my Penny Potpourri exhibit for its final display at the Chicago ANA in August.

I recently bought this piece from John Kraljevich. It's very unusual in that it's BOTH a Love Token and a Store Card on a nice quality 1863 Indian cent.

This is another rare sticker cent - I say rare because the Secret Service forced advertisers to remove stickers from the coins they were going to use for advertising purposes since advertising on U.S. money is federally prohibited. However, I've never heard of the B.P.M. company on this penny, nor have I been able to find out anything about it, so if anyone out there has info on B.P.M., please let me know.

This is another skeleton Hobo Penny - it's not necessarily rare, I just think it's a cool piece since Hobo Pennies are much more scarce than their counterpart Hobo Nickels.

I can't get over the detail on the '63! The hammer and the folded over boot. That's really incredible.
The '45 is pretty cool too.

Nice acquisitions!! Did I read correctly concerning final display? Why? If not
competitively then for fun. So much knowledge and fun with this display.

    Neat stuff!

"Sharon" in this case might be the old borough of Sharon, Pennsylvania,
or another town or city by that name.

Thanks everyone, I really love these pieces. I also picked up another one that I just sent to Todd to photograph, it's a very unusual encased Love Token that I'll post once I get the photo from Todd.

I agree, that's what drew me to this piece when John showed it to me, plus the unusual fact of it being a store card and a love token - I don't think I've seen one like it before!

Yes, I gave myself one year to compete with my exhibit, and (except for the weird debacle at Central States) it's been a great ride. I am so thrilled and have truly enjoyed the positive response I've gotten to my exhibit, but it's been all around the country and my one year will be up in August. I began at the Chicago ANA, and that's where it will end.

    That's a good thought - I hadn't considered Sharon could be a place, rather than a person.

    Thanks again everyone!

Maybe after a year or two you might change your mind. Collections are
better viewed "live" than on the net. When collectors share their finds
or complete collections I always am grateful for the opportunity to see
them even if it is on the "net". To see the same "live" is just better.
    Thanks for sharing!!

Very cool, but I would not even know what to buy them, or sell them at. That 63 is in great shape and a Var 2. I just love the Lincoln as well.

    Fun Stuff!

    Charmy ,
That 45-s is freakin me out. Reminds me of Mexican folk art / Dia de los Muertos.
    Too cool
