Lots of ungraded cards and things PSA doesn't grade, like magazines and uncut sheets, plus certain types of supplies, are sold on there. Ending the BST would mean losing all that traffic to other sites.

So? CLCT doesn't make a nickel on the BST. Who cares if it moves to other sites? Ungraded cards and things are even less of a reason for CLCT to keep open the BST.
CLCT needs to monitize their assets. In this case, killing the BST and offering graded cards, coins, memorabilia on Collectors Corner for paying Collectors Club members while collecting a modest fee seems like a smart way to go.

i've been clicking around through it, i'm not that impressed to be honest

i'm working on an 1956 topps baseball set, here's what i've found and keep in mind my comments are limited to that

    1) similar to other comments, the search is pretty much useless if you're trying to go by grade
    2) no thumbnails on the listing is annoying, you have to open every one
    3) it's basically the same seller(s) as on ebay with same prices - you can probably find some deals, but you'll have to troll through and grind it out (which is what i already do on ebay so what's the difference?)
    4) why not include links on the left side to the actual PSA grade? and even maybe 5-10 "popular" items from a set (player or highest graded, that sort of thing)?

i can't see any reason why i'd want to use this right now, there's not enough traffic and it's just another site to keep up with. most people are going to list on ebay because it's the best traffic, and the reduced fees from CC don't look to me to offset the trouble for now.

might be a good way to operate besides "trust" on the BST board, but then again if you're using Paypal to pay you can generally structure to get that coverage so again, i'm just not sure what this is really going to offer anyone right now.

    my thoughts anyway...

    Good Afternoon Bounce,

Thank you for the feedback. As mentioned in one of my previous posts, we are currently working on a new design for the Collectors Corner listings page which will include new features that should benefit everyone, both the sellers and the prospective buyers. Having said that, there are some cool features with this current design that may have been overlooked. Your concerns are well validated and hopefully over time, we can earn your business.

    1) If you want to search for some PSA cards by grade, click on the “Advanced” link next to the search bar. You will then see a drop down menu which will allow you to input the preferred Year Issued, Price, and Grade that you are searching for.

    2) The thumbnail images will without a doubt be included in our next update.

    3) As far as “trolling through and grinding it out to find deals”, you’ve hit on something very interesting. We will look into different ways to expedite this process. No, we will not be cheating any of our listers out of their selling prices, but with any of these listing sites, they require potential buyers to spend countless amounts of hours when trying to find deals. We’re always open to ideas, but I think I may have something in mind.

    4) That is a great recommendation and something that we can potentially look into.

I don't see the point in listing this way only. I would still list on eBay and it doesn't look to be worth the effort in listing on PSA site as well. And the fact that the listing ends after 30 days and you have to change the price is an annoyance I would rather not deal with.

Anyone actually sell anything there yet or get any inquires?

I'm guessing the target customer for cards listed in Collector's Corner is the collector with a set registered. When a collector views his set anything listed in Collector's Corner that's needed or would upgrade his set has a clickable link to the listing next to the card. It makes it very easy for a collector to see what's available for sets they collect, and easy to buy. As far as dealers and wannabes having success scavenging the listings for deals to flip, they're not exactly the kind of buyer that collectors are looking for when listing their cards.

I find it very ironic that the guy with probably the most alt's in cu history is accusing someone else of being an alt.

Seriously dude, why do you feel you need so many alt's?

Is it possible? Yes. Is it a reality? No. Especially when a known alt, probably 20's over, makes a snide remark about a valuable member and somebody I consider a friend.

I just sold a very inexpensive card a few minutes ago, but this is a strange process so far. I got a notification on my phone that I received a PayPal payment. But that was odd, because I hadn't sold anything on eBay today, and the PayPal transaction didn't say what the payment was for. And I still don't have a notification from PSA that I sold anything. But when I went into my registry, I see one sold item. If I hadn't gone into my registry, I wouldn't know that I made a sale. And it took some searching to find the buyer's mailing address.

Corbin, any info on a notification e-mail upon a sale?
  • dbcoindbcoin Posts: 2,200 ✭✭
I suppose this is a work in progress but it seems quite promising. Glad you made a sale. Glad that PSA is pursuing this. Good for everyone.

Thank you Matt, I really appreciate the kind words. I was trying to turn the other cheek, knowing that the knowledgeable board members know who's a good member and who's a troll. But I'm touched that you spoke up. You're a hell of a guy too and I've really enjoyed getting to know you. By the way, when you mailed me those cards, what was the name on my mailing address? Just curious image

Same thing, I had my first sale this evening. Kind of confusing to figure out, but I made it work. Would be nice to have the option to pay for postage through paypal directly on CC, instead of using multi-order shipping. Maybe there is, but I didn't find it.

If you think derailing on CU is bad, you should have seen it 2+ years ago....oh, how I miss the old days! LOL

hmmm. Thinking out loud. 2 sales in 1 week with only 34 sets registered. There are 100,000+ card sets. If CLCT really gets this going that could translate to a couple thousand sales every week. At $5/sale in commission, this could add over $100K to sales every year. Just for cards. Coins are 3X more popular and 10X more expensive. This could be a multi-million dollar revenue item for CLCT. With very low fixed costs. Would probably increase margin and add 10c to earnings

    Corbin/BJ,

Any thought to tying in the Price Guide with this service? Some have complained about having to adjust the price every month. What if the price automatically adjusted based on Price Guide adjustments after the month? It could be a % or some other formula. In theory, the Price Guide has better info than humans as it scans all the auction sites. So in theory, CLCT acts as the NASDAQ exchange and aggregates prices from all the sub-exchanges (auction houses). This idea might be more applicable to coins as coin prices can fluctuate more with precious metal price changes but it still has some merit here.

    another idea

Why not strike a deal with Ebay whereby Ebay searches will also scan items for sale on Collectors Corner? Give Ebay a cut for sold items done this way (on the order or less than Apple's AppStore). Since you are actually hosting the site, the Ebay cut would probably be less than Apple's 30%. Say maybe 20%.

    dbcoin,

With all due respect.....keep EBAY the hell out of this process. It has some potential. Because of EBAY's constantly revolving pain the the arse changes, we have this on Collectors Corner. PAYPAL is already king....I want EBAY no part of this. I'm thinking 99.9% agree.image

If you choose to not search via Ebay, then it will work too. All I am saying is why not allow Ebay searches to hit Collectors Corner too?

We are glad to see our members making some sales over our network. It's certainly a start. As for your comment, it seems we had a glitch in our system, which has since been resolved. Thank you for letting us know. For now on, both buyer and seller will received detailed emails about the sale. Also, please check to make sure that your sales are showing up in “Orders” in My Set Registry in the CC Inventory.

With regards to the price guide, unfortunately, the SMR only prices a small percentage of the cards out there. And yes, it is continually expanding, but at this point in time, it would not be viable to reprice cards according to the guide. Too many of them would remain unpriced. If a card is priced, it will be the initial price the seller sees when he moves his card to the Collectors Corner inventory. We don't believe that sellers will feel encumbered by having to change the price of their cards every 30 days, but if it does become a problem, we could always consider an automatic price increase or decrease of a certain percentage to allow sellers to reprice in-mass.

As far as the eBay idea, we are always exploring new avenues to increase the card exposure for our buyers and sellers. Any potential business opportunity will be discussed and carefully researched.

All I have are Mattingly doubles and some 80s rookies but if its an easy process I may do it to see if I get any bites.

Update: I just moved some cards from My Inventory that were sitting in the "For Sale" to the "CC Sales" but haven't published yet. Waiting to hear back from my friend who is a power seller on eBay who may list all this for me.

Even then, Im unsure how to price my cards after reading the .pdf.
