Recommendations of metal detector?

Hi Guys,

I was thinking it might be fun to do some metal detecting with my son and blow some Ebay bucks at the same time. Is it possible to get a decent metal detector for under $100 on Ebay? Does anyone have a suggestion?

None that I would recommend.... a good entry level machine is the Garrett Ace 250....some use them for years, just not good around salt water. Cheap, reliable and solid performer. Cheers, RickO

I second the ACE 250, have since upgraded to the Garret ATI 2500 PRO, however, am still fond of the 250.
Can be had for $212.00 or so, will paste a link.
Anything less than this, is just a 'toy'.

vladguerrero---copy and paste the link I provided, they have a nice package deal and you get a lot of nice extra's for the same price as the 'bay listing.

Should you guys pursue the hobby, a 'pin pointer' is a Must have item.
It's used after target is located and soil plug removed, works real well in finding things that are off to the side of the hole, etc.
