They absolutely KILLED it this last auction!!! Maybe they are the new place to ship consignments to?

<< <i>The prices were crazy. Outbid on all 7 cards, all of which were one, or two bid increments over VCP. I hope to realize such prices when I decide to sell. >>
They sold a card that I sold for $2,000 for over $8,000!!!! Same card, same grade!! I hope you can realize such prices too - I hope that wasn't a bubble!

<< <i>Sorry to be negative, but of all the AH's, they're my least favorite. From both a buyer and a consignment standpoint. I'm happy to hear others have had a good experience with them though. >>
Jeff...did you have a bad consignment experience with them?

Me too.
The exact same '67 set went for 10K less than it did in Love of the Game a few months ago.
Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

Before I knew anything about consigning cards to AH's, I was offered (what turned out to be) a horrible deal by ML. I ended up working with two other auction houses who offered a rate that made me embarrassed to think about the fact that I almost went with ML. And on the buyer side, I bought six "factory sealed" sets that all turned out to be searched from they're auctions. Unfortunately, I held on to the sets for quite a while before opening them, and felt too much time had passed to plead my case. Lesson learned. But like I said, I'm happy to hear others have had good experiences, because I'd hate to think they're all like mine.

<< <i>What was the horrible deal? 10% commission? That is what they offered me when I consigned with them. I think that is a standard rate. But with sooooo many auction houses offering zero percent, I can see why you would think the 10% was bad. >>
I think it all depends on the type of cards you're consigning. I was consigning a handful of pretty high end prewar cards.

<< <i>How did you get a $100 gift card Justin? Was that the little baseball card they included with their last auction? >>
I had a card in the mail from Memory Lane on my birthday that was good for 6 months for any Memory Lane auction, just not the "I Own It Now" deal. Never got one before this year and was first time I saw it. To be honest, not even sure how they got my birth date?!

<< <i>I won one lot, 1967 Brock PSA 9.
The '67 Brock was on my radar........very nice looking card.
This auction was exceptionally strong for '61 through '72 baseball.
I won the '69 Bench PSA 10 and '71 Perry PSA 9.
Not sure why the clock was missing........I wasn't sure when the auction ended.
My experience has been that Memory Lane is more pleasant to work with than Mile High.

I have only ever had great experiences with MLI. Top notch customer service and easy to work with IMO.
As far as the 69 Bench goes- great pick up. I was the guy that was bidding you up! I wanted that one!!

That being said, they really need to come up with much much better scans. Considering the magnitude of some of these cards, I don't think what they offer is nearly enough. It's really kind of baffling why they think what they offer is all we need.
I also recommend they hire a certain forum member/donmattingly fan to start writing up their descriptions. Seems they just go through the motions there. "This card is the one to own!" Or "Pick up this red hot card now" just doesn't do it. MC, have you spoken with them about your services? ;-)

LOL!!! I find their short write-ups hilarious! "BID TO WIN"! "TEDDY BALLGAME"! "HOT CARD!"........it is almost like they are a parody of all those auction houses that write flowery, puffy write-ups that describe a card like a work of art.
That site needs a major overhaul as the overall UI, layout, and functionality is horrendous. Agree with Todd that the pictures and descriptions have fallen way behind the competition. It's nice to see some strong competition to ML who are much more aggressive in their consignment offers. Bussineau offering 105% on 50K and up lots, for example. I love the descriptions on REA and it makes a difference (at least to me). And, of course, when considering a major purchase, nothing does more to help build confidence than very large, clear, clean pictures.
Gone are the days where ML could get away with charging both the buyer and seller ~20%. And it shows when you look at the high end material that is distributed much more across a variety of sites such as MH, REA, Goodwin, H&S, Bussineau, Heritage, etc.
All that said, they do tend to offer more post-war cards, particularly 1970s and newer, than you see at other AHs.
