New items in baseball and football.

Just missed the 1980 Topps baseball wax box ($1050). image

At least I got a couple others to fill some holes in my 80's baseball run I guess. image

Non-X 84T FB from a sealed case usurped my funds.

The 81 and 82 football boxes aren't bad deals at the listed prices. I would like to have one of the 84 football non Xed out boxes for my collection but I currently have 3 84 boxes and can't justify spending that much on another one just to not have the black mark. Mine is only has a small 1/4 inch or so wide mark across the box. I can live with that for now.

They must of had only one box of the 80's topps baseball and the 81 Topps super cello baseball. They were gone pretty fast. I happen to be on the site before lunch and saw nothing.I got back a hour and a half later and saw the new boxes. I picked up one of the 82 FB boxes. It will be interesting to see how long the 84 football from a sealed case hangs around

Wish I had seen that 1981 Super Cello box in time. Very cool.

Do you mean sequencing or maybe assembling a box from packs? I don't think anyone cared when 80s football was taken off the shelf and sent back to topps. I literally had a shop owner talk be out of buying football card by telling me he didn't think they were worth a bucket of spit. When you are 9, that is a very strong statement.

Those '81 FB in 79 wrappers boxes were $350 less than two years ago when we broke some in a break. I got full box for $315 (w10%) as an add on to that break! If I remember right the packs have less cards then regular '81 packs. Not sure if $800 is all that great image

I can not see spending that type of money in which there is a glut of on this 80s stuff around except maybe the 84 donruss.Maybe I am not up with the times but these prices are getting out of hand on stuff you could classify a as just a bit better than junk wax.

I wonder why they sold the 1980T baseball at $1050. Didn't they just sell one on eBay for close to $2k?

You're right. I thought they both went for ~$2k but I was wrong. Doesn't make much sense to be such a huge delta between 1979 and 1980. Very similar sets value wise and not much difference in availability between the two boxes.

Less than 24 hours to sell out the entire 1984 Topps Football boxes from a sealed case at $750 a pop. Wow!

I have a very clean non x-out box, albeit not from a sealed case, I picked up last summer for about $200 less... so I passed on these, but clearly others thought they were one heck of a bargain!

The 1982 Donruss are sold out as well. Seems like only last year they were selling for $65 a box

It looks like most of the wax boxes listed yesterday came from a smaller collection, with only one each available.

I picked up a 81D & 83D and they showed as sold out right after.

I picked up an 82D within the last month, the last time they were available, for $85.... so a pretty healthy bump.

That said, 3 of the last 4 BBCE authenticated boxes sold on eBay went for $100 or more.

BBCE reloaded on 1980T & 1981T baseball boxes. No change in price despite the last 1980 box blowing off the cyber shelf in minutes. Perhaps a sign we are reaching the peak, at least on 1980 and up? image

    '79 Trays - $150....wow!
  • 19541954 Posts: 2,914 ✭✭✭
$150 a rack ? Well that makes the 1979 Topps case in ML auction a huge bargain for the buyer.

Looking for high grade rookie cards and unopened boxes/cases

That is for a 79 wax tray which does carry a premium over a 79 rack imo.

Hard to believe I was once called overly bullish when I said market value on those was going to exceed $90, lol.

Uh oh there is a pricing imbalance at BBCE!

Wax trays carry a premium and are at $150.

Yet loose 1979 packs are $55 each.

Does that make 1979 wax trays undervalued or 1979 loose packs overvalued? Hmmm
