Next is an 1877 DDO FS-101, in EF 40. As these wear down the doubling can get harder to see but it is apparent in the wheat stalks, last 2 stars and the rope on the cotton bale. (hard to see some of this in the photos, but it's there). This coin had a little wiping done under Liberty's extended arm, but it toned over and is limited to that area. The ding in the left obv field is way less apparent in hand, my lights just reflected off at the perfect (!) angle. Most of the examples I have seen have a long die crack on the reverse connecting much of the lettering on the right side, but not this one.
thanks to Luis at Choice Numismatics for a smooth, pleasant transaction with great communication.
Thanks, trade dollar afficionados. Not shown is a 74-cc that I bought on eBay (rant alert!) Seller described it as never cleaned (raw coin) and it looked pretty nice. On receipt, it clearly had patches of dense hairlines in the fields and a spot of corrosion under Liberty's extended arm. How did I miss that? The seller had photoshopped it out of the image! AND on the reverse ,there was graffiti hidden in some dark toning. Left me thoroughly PO'd at some of the shenanigans that go on. Returned for refund, but of course the usual wait at the PO,indifferent service, postage and insurance etc.. However, all outweighed by the positive experience on the BST and the forum in general.
You guys are too kind. I'm really thankful that we have such a great TD community, I've learned so much from so many of you and have bought and sold some great coins.
Kaz, that 76-cc wide c c is really a great coin. Really top shelf period, but especially for that variety. Nicely done!

My bid looked weak in lieu of what it ended at. That is seriously one fantastic coin...
I, too, have picked up some nice ones from OriginalDan.
