Any Jewelry Experts?

Today at our family dinner, my aunt, who is in her 80's, brought this to give to my sister, it was my grandmothers. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this type of thing? Is the chain gold, gold plated? Any help would be appreciated. I will probably bring it to our local BM to see if they can help. I do not see any markings on it. It weighs 77.7 g or 2.74 oz.

beauty of a piece, looks like costume jewelry...
if u didnt go "wow", when u picked it up cause it weighed so much, it aint gold...

With no markings, it is unlikely that it is gold..... proper evaluation will determine that for certain. Cheers, RickO

If there are markings, the location is normally on the chain's clasp and the back of the broach.
Look carefully while turning it to reflect light on any image.

Looks like costume from here. Any dealer can give you a quick answer upon inspecting the piece.

No markings = bad. Check for wear of the plating where the links rub.

Personally, I've never seen a gold piece unmarked.
