Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.

On the 88 Fleer, I bought it already signed by Mike Scott. A buddy of mine got me Hershiser. Altobelli/Owens I bought. The 83 Fleer, I got Oglivie TTM and Reggie in a private signing. The 82 Fleer, both private signings.

Progress on this goes in spurts. I wish it was just consistent. I can go 3-5 months not finding a darn thing and no one I need is signing. Then, like over the past 2 months, a bunch of what Im needing done come up.

Ripken Jr is going to be signing but at 75 per and his health, I will put it on the back burner until everything else slows down. I think Im ok to wait a bit to get Ripken Jr. I have a few pending private signings. Over the next month I should have a few more.

Sorry if I was not clear.....Ripken is young and in good health. That is why I feel I can put off spending the money right now.
  • Can't believe I've never seen this thread. This is really impressive. About Big Mac not signing with Canseco, guess the only way to get around that is have Mark sign something first. Great collection though. Seriously.

Congrats on the Bo Diaz. Always tough getting autos of players who died while still playing ball. Man, I remember when he died ... what a tragic accident.

Ironically, Diaz didn't even catch that Barker Perfect Game; it was Ron Hassey....

    Nice additions

Somewhat interesting story on the 82 Fleer Barker/Diaz.

The Barker was sent for a private signing with someone on SCN. Here is what I was told...
"There was a time that he did not sign the 82 Fleer with Diaz. He said that is the only one he ever signed that was already signed by Diaz."

Im very proud to have it!
  • Impressive stuff. Like the Gaylord Perry / George Brett especially

Congrats! I love seeing updates to this thread, though it's a bit bittersweet realizing how many players I loved watching back in the 80s have passed on.

So true. There are a limited amount of players in this project and many have passed. I have never counted. As players in the 80s, it surely seems like too many.
