Autograph Project #2: 1981-90 Fleer Superstar Specials Multi-players - Updated 4/29

I had started a thread posting everything I had signed. But instead of that, I will only post what I have completed. I have a LOT of cards with signatures but need another player (or two in some cases...and a couple even more). Of what I post, there is only one card I question...I'll have to get it to PSA. Anyway...Im working hard on this project. It doesnt look like much now but I expect it to grow a LOT over the next 3-4 months. Enjoy....

Well done Barry! Still in the hunt for the 1987 Magic Mets I presume?

Yes!! That one and the 85 Fleer NL All Stars signed by at least Gary Carter. That one shouldnt be so difficult to find but I havent seen one pop up. That was about the time Carter was signing for free and then signing for charity so Im thinking that a decent amount of them did get signed. For Gary Carter, I also still need the 88 Fleer with Schmidt. I kick myself cuz I passed on one about a year ago and before I decided to start this project.

Gosh, I have most of the other cards signed but still missing the second or third player. There are very few that I have no signature at all. I hope to have 80% of all the superstar specials completed by the end of this year.

    Fantabulous stuff Barry!

Do you find that with multiplayer cards, you have better success completing them because one of the guys doesn't want to be the dick tidrow that doesn't sign it?

No, not yet. Although I know McGwire will no longer sign anything with Jose Canseco so Im happy I have that 88 Fleer already.

Very nice; thanks for sharing. I did not realize Carter was on so many of these. How did I miss that as a kid?

And he is on 3 more....85 Fleer NL All Stars, 87 Fleer Magic Mets, and 88 Fleer w/Schmidt.

I have a school of white whales to find LOL

    Awesome stuff!
  • Until you see them all in one place you don't realize how many times Gary Carter made it on those. Sweet cards!

Those SSS were always some of my favorite cards when I was younger. Great stuff!

    One question though...

    LOL
Ive met Dale Murphy in person a couple of times (in fact just yesterday again) and he's quite tall. Never met Dave Parker. I guess Garvey isnt quite so tall? LOL

I agree, it does make the pic look funny and awkward LOL

    Thanks

I agree about the Lea/Carter card.

I often communicate with David Palmer who was Lea's best friend and roommate while teammates from 1980-1984. And of course he knew Carter very well. Can hear the sadness in his voice when he speaks of them.

This is one of my favorite threads, and these new additions are tremendous. With that being said, the SGC label is ugly as sin!

Thanks, Dan! It's getting tough now. Those are all since my last posting in MAY. 5 months. Im assuming my next 5 months will be even less fruitless unless I get lucky.

I actually dont mind SGC's new label. I think it looks cleaner than their original.

Seaver has gotten so tough and the promoter was charging like 150 an auto so I was really happy to get this card signed by both Seaver and Bench and also psa/dna slabbed for 75.00

Now that I have confirmation that this Ripken Jr is authentic (as well as the Trammell) I will happily post this one...at some point, I will try to replace it with a better condition card. But Im happy to have it for now.
