for those that haven't seen this video, it has a lot of info. if you listen closely and focus. especially for those asking, "is pcgs doing anything to help stop the proliferation of counterfeited coins in counterfeited holders."
i've watched several videos going back many years for the principals at pcgs (not to mention others) discussing their eclectic efforts to combat counterfeits/counterfeieters across the board and across the globe. .
Hey lance here is the seller who had the fake gun shot Morgan and he is at it again. I wonder why the back is damaged could it be to hide the word copy? People are actually bidding on this. I will let you do your thing as I am not contacting sellers anymore unless I am buying something from them. The other coin was never pulled....

one of the things i struggle with is trying to do various things and separate my desire to do them from the results.
example. when i do trash pickup around my neighborhood/city. i know hours later there will be more trash again. so i have to do the thing just because i choose to. maybe get some fresh air, get some exercise, enjoy the "clean look" for a little while. if i expect the trash to stay gone, well, there is no point in even doing it.
i try to apply that to reporting these turds. i have to just do it w/o expecting long-term results. they aren't going to stop listing them. they aren't always going to stop the listings. etc etc so we all have to make a choice and there are days i struggle with it because i want the listings gone within the hour that i reported them. i'd actually like to have a nuke button to kill them instantly but the universe doesn't seem to have the desire to give me that power. ><
so, just like someone beating their head against the wall. i just keep doing my process the same as i have essentially for the past few years. i have a little hope that some good will come about from it and if i'm ever called into court for better or worse, i'll have TONS of ammunition for whatever it would be worth. but that is not why i report.
my 2 reasons basically are 1. to stop dum-dums from buying the stuff and 2. stop the a-holes from getting money for their junk which probably only allows them to do it more.
of course, like with drugs. the responsibility doesn't just fall on the dealers; the buyers are every bit as culpable. (edited to add: at least with the drugs though, the customers know what they are getting beforehand, generally. a rather gross oversight on my part not to add this) .
edited to add: i checked my database and this account has listed and sold them in the past. . >>
I guess reporting is dead. This is still up and 4 hours to go....17 bidders (I'm one). Not so confident that ebay will remove these and so bidding and winning becomes more of a problem as you may actually have to pay for a coin and then return it. Ties my money up much too long....bummer

thanks. been looking to add some more images to the counterfeit gsa section of my database.
i'm glad you took the time to say something to the seller. the odds are miniscule they didn't know but it almost makes it worth it to run into a decent person out of the dozens of blunt skulls. .

actually my context was in reference to that it is worth running into all the a-holes just to run into a decent person amidst all the chaos for all the effort because the decent people remind you the fight is worth
while. but i do see how that sentence can read either way. words on a screen nails us again. >< and/or my lack of precision explanation. .
for those of you that like reporting more than 1 item at a time. when the (copyright and trademark > counterfeit item or authenticity disclaimer > counterfeit, fake or replica item) prompts you to give a "Brief Description", you could put other item numbers there. not too many though. .

i like to tell people that using a magnet, scale and micrometer are the last 3 methods i would use for numismatic coin counterfeit detection and i figure if i have to resort to those 3, there is no point. .
it has been somewhat harder to get fakes taken down, but it's harder to know: 1) not as many posted lately 2) I'm messaging the sellers first almost always now. I've gotten a few sellers to take down items on their own.
I am still having trouble with this one seller in australia of replica bullion. After my first success of taking a few down from one australian seller, I can't seem to get this other one's down. The cynic says it is because they are selling and getting positive feedback. It's still pathetic to think that I called (to ebay in australia) and they read "replica" in the listing description and still left it up.... to the point they sold out. Luckily the seller has many other types of replica bullion to report.

it has been many months but i was told specifically that many of the restrictions only apply to usa, canada and maybe a couple other ebay sites. all the others are open-season.
i reported some items on an ebay site (non-usa,canada) and that is when i was told the aforementioned bad news.
feel free to post a link to the seller as even replica items can be educational. i won't know until i see the stuff to see if it will be a good addition to my files. TIA .
I went to ebay.com.au and checked their policies. Same as usa: no replica coins, bullion and it even extends to currency and stamps as far as I recall.
I also report them by first logging into the ebay.com.au site.
I also get a call-in PIN the same way.
...It worked a couple of times for that one seller.
<< <i>I went to ebay.com.au and checked their policies. Same as usa: no replica coins, bullion and it even extends to currency and stamps as far as I recall. >>
i'm truly glad for this. i'm not sure of the date i called vs when certain policies are/were implemented.
i think i'll keep a list of these things in the first post of this thread. .

Since they can not trust us nor the ebay ccw to be impartial, the regular crew now must become coin knowledgable. I'm sure this will happen especially if there is turnover for CSRs. I suppose some long-term CSRs will be the go to people and perhaps they might be later grouped into a CCW.

depends on what impact you are referring to.
sometimes events like what ebay did recently can bring a community together. maybe the opposite. but that is just one angle of impact.
i don't expect anything less from large corps, so for me it is just another day.
