What's ebays policy on "resealed" returns, timeline?

Hi guys,

I looked but am unsure what it would fall under...item not as described? Opened? Not new? So for example, say I bought an unopened topps baseball wax box on eBay but bbce won't say it's legitimate. Possibly resealed. So how long do I have to return it or make a claim on eBay? 30 days? 90 days?
And what do i classify it as..not as described?

Thanks again guys.

If it was supposed to be unopened I think you have a legitimate case for item "not as described". Using that as the reason should win you the case the majority of the time. As far as statute of limitations, I have no idea on that.

I think it is 30 or 60 days. You need to begin by contacting the seller. I would also look into starting a claim with ebay. I think you will learn a lot about the process by going through the motions.

So what's stopping people from buying unopened wax on ebay, opening the packs and pulling out the stars, resealing them and filing a SNAD? This is why I don't buy or sell wax on ebay.

Yeah, I would think that if ebay gave people refunds on unopened, that there would be an epidemic of people claiming a box was resealed.

Bottom line is...DONT BUY WAX ON EBAY!!!!!!
IT IS ALWAYS CHEAPER TO NOT SELL ON EBAY

The same goes for sellers. If there is no trust in the marletplace, how can the deals get done? Somehow I still see a lot of non-BBCE boxes get sold on ebay.

Nothing. Buyer wins this one every time, the first time anyways.
I would like to think that ebay would wise up to repeat offenders.

I unfortunately was in a similar situation recently. Purchased a 1970s wax box off a seller with a ton of feedback, 100 percent positive. Got the box and the packs looked horrible. Sent to bbce just to make sure I wasn't off-base. Confirmed the packs were resealed. Contacted seller. He agreed to take back. Got money refunded. Didn't even have to file a claim. I would suggest starting with the seller directly. If that doesn't work, escalate. I think you have at least 30 days. If you paid with a credit card through PayPal, let them know you are disputing the charge. This gives you two lines of defense. I always pay with Amex for large purchases. They are VERY purchaser-friendly if there is an issue, so even if eBay failed to support me, I would expect that they would.

    +1

Always use the credit card when dealing with sellers I don't know. Gives you an extra avenue to pursue if needed. I've had the same situation as Scott where I bought resealed packs and contacted the seller. He took the packs back without a problem.
