Merely pointing out the coincidence of the losing streak/his no-hitter. For the record me and my better half are Sox fans.

Im not jumping on you bud, I just dont think there is any significance between the the two. Beckett is long gone, I could agree if they had just gotten rid of him and then went on this losing streak but they won a Worlds Series after dumping him .
BTW Glad to see another Sox fan on board here!
Again I just want to point out how extremely unreasonable it is to expect the '14 Sox team to even come close to last years miracles because last years team won it on mostly heart, surely not on talent alone.
ZERO correlation between Beckett's no-hitter and the Red Sox losing streak...mere coincidence. Next we'll be reading about the curse thing yet again...which, BTW was a creation of Dan Shaughnessy, sports journalist in Boston. Like blaming poor Bartman for the Cubs collapse, total farce. It's the team's on field inept performance that causes bad things to happen...how some people love the scapegoat theory.
I say good for Beckett and glad you're in Dodger blue.
It took a huge comeback yesterday to finally get off the schnide. No thanks to Buchholz, who now has the distinction of owning the highest ERA among major league starters...7.02...his stats are PATHETIC!! I say send him down...now he's claiming his "health" and his "shoulder/neck" injury from last year...could be...Boston has the best medical facilities in the country...get him checked out.
Make no mistake, the Red Sox are still on life support...no Victorino, no Napoli, no good.
I think what did kinda bug me yesterday as I caught a bit of the rain delay stuff on ESPN, was that Ozzie Guillen was one of the analysts. Not only is his English rudimentary at best, you have to strain to understand what he's saying. This is the guy that admires Castro and has a mouth where expletives can fly faster than a drunken brawl. I'm surprised that the powers to be actually hired this guy. I think he was lucky to get out of Miami in one piece after the Castro thing.
Red Sox still on course for the Titanic experience. It will take many, many wins to convince me otherwise.
Is it really up to 3? Peavy is gonna need to out-pitch Minor today to get to 4. Glad to see Buch won't be in the rotation for a few weeks. Maybe some sunscreen will do him some good.
Anything is possible, and hey if the Sox can squander a huge lead in the division like they did back in '12 I think they can squander a huge defecit too
They still need to make a few changes over the next couple of weeks.
They need to either send Bogaerts down to Pawtucket, bring Middlebrooks back up, get rid of Drew, get Papi to start hitting to left field so they are not putting 4 men on the right side, and either Carp or Gomes have to go.
If the next week does not go well then it becomes time to unload pitchers and get ready for next year.
I actually watched last nights game and thoroughly enjoyed watching it. Always great to see the Sox beat the Yanks, how about that great catch by Betts!
It seemed kinda pathetic that this thread had fallen to page 3 and sinking. So, just for grins I thought I'd pop it back to page one.
A dismal season for the team. Seems like almost nothing went right. Must be demoralizing to have to look at the AL East standings during every home game at Fenway...I'm sure the paychecks ease the pain...no doubt the Fall trips are planned and they'll be on their cruises and hunting in no time.
As those who follow, I gave up on the team somewhere in June..just no spark. Surely by now they've set a team record for 1-run losses at home...must easily be 25 or so, but could be wrong. Oddly, I could watch most of the games on NESN, channel 628 on directv...although I don't subscribe to any package that would entitle me to do so. I watched very few games this year.
Maybe next year will be a bit brighter. Hope all you guys are doing ok.
Im still happy about last years team going far beyond EVERYONES expectations, I do like Cepedes, hopefully they will keep him and rebuild the pitching staff going forward.
Yup, time for the Pats. I do hope next year is so much better for the Sox.
I was in NH 2 weeks ago. My brother has 108 acres about 5 miles south of the speedway in Loudon...flew in and out of Manchester...that place is like a mini Logan. Had a nice outdoor lunch at Alton Bay on Winnepesaukee. If you ever go up that way on 106, make sure to stop at Jordan's ice cream stand. Home made on site...like they say, wicked good!!
Somehow you just can't get enough of New England...best time is right around the corner.

Al best to you too my friend, and I will keep Jordans in mind if Im ever up there.
Gotta love the Pats getting ready for the season, my hopes are thinking we got a realistic chance.
Sox future looking bright(er than this year). 2/3 of next year's outfield should be excellent. Shopping trip for pitching will begin in October, and of course, WAIT 'TIL NEXT YEAR!
I wish that they had at least beaten the Seattle Mariners today. The New York Yankees need every little bit of help that they can get this year.

Let's not forget Jacoby Ellsbury as well. I know how you feel after losing A-Rod and Robinson Cano this year. See you next week Pit Boss.

The Yankees are finally beginning to hit. Ellsbury included. He went 3-for-5 with a home run, two runs scored and three RBI yesterday. He plays a pretty good center field as well. Only time will tell if he is a suitable replacement for Melky Cabrera.

They are getting opportunities to watch these young kids fail now instead of next year and can make the moves they need to make in the off season.
They will also get better draft picks.
Everybody is complaining about how Farrell is leaving the kid pitchers in too long but he has to do that to see if they can work their way out of trouble or not.
They now know they have to bid high on Lester and Price because of what Farrell is doing right now as some of these kids can not take the pressure.
Congratulations on the win. What a disaster. I guess that we are both looking forward to next season now.

Your opinions on Jackie Bradleys future with the Sox? Good news/bad news:Good-I pulled a 2013 Bowman chrome rookie gold refractor #3/10. Bad-He was sent down the day I opened the pack.

Unfortunately for my Bostonian wife that latest loss to the Baltimore Oreos/Cookies (as my late grandpa liked to call 'em) officially eliminated the BoSox from postseason contention this year. Hopefully my Cats (we're supposed to be very top contenders this coming season) and her Patriots will have better luck!
I am very interested to see what the Boston Red Sox fans will have planned for Derek Jeter at Fenway Park next weekend. I expect that it will be a very nice tribute. What do you guys think?

Im thinking they will do something out of respect, Derek Jeter has been a part of the Yankees during arguably the greatest period of Sox/Yankee rivalry.

It sure would have been a lot more fun watching them all year but now is better than not at all I guess.

The need to pay Lester what he wants as the hitting alone will not win.
He is a good player but is only one player and a team needs a lot more than that.

That would be a tragic mistake if they do He and Bogearts put on quite a show last night.
They have other outfielders that they can trade if they want like Victorino or even Napoli as you have other 1st base candidates.
Keep Bradley down in the minors starting next year until he learns how to hit.
Seems like his arm died.
I think he's too old/small to last an entire season - next year don't pitch him until after the alll star break.

Kudos to You Derek Jeter
I am not too impressed with the new players that are supposed to be auditioning for 2015.
If the want to do well in 2015 they had better scramble this winter to come up with some pitching and some real hitters not more swing and miss types.
