Just wanted to thank you guys for the kind words -- sharing my collections really adds to my overall enjoyment of it.

I have pulled a few letters from some successes that I have posted before. I think you guys might enjoy them

    First up Bobby Hebert
    image

    image

Do you recall how you felt at that moment
"I didn't think the play would work" / Throwback to (QB)

I was wondering if you were able to obtain the ball or did you keep anything from that game
"I wish I would have kept that football"!

How did your team mates react to you back on the sidelines and did you do anything special after the game
"I probably was the 1st N.F.L.(QB), to catch a (TD pass) before I threw a (TD)"!

Do you recall how you felt at that moment
Yes, I can't forget it. It was a great feeling. I felt like I made it. I did it. I accomplished one of my childhood dreams. To play in the NFL and score a touchdown.

I was wondering if you were able to obtain the ball or did you keep anything from that game
Don Hewith was our equipment manager and I kept the ball and gave it to him. They had it painted with the date, score & teams aslo saying first touchdown. The Rams were great about doing things like that.

How did your team mates react to you back on the sidelines and did you do anything special after the game
Everyone congratulated me and if I remember correctly I think I also got the game ball!

    He also added
Michael, Thanks for your interest and bringing back some fond memories from my playing days! Mike

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------

Next very cool first TD story for both Tom Blanchard and Elois Grooms - told by Mr. Grooms

    imageimage

    image

Do you recall how you felt at that moment
This was a field goal attempt. The holder(Tom Blanchard) fumbled the snap and had to try to get a pass off to salvage 4th down. He yells "Fire" which tells me and the upback (Joe Federspiel) run a pass route. Joe did not hear the call and left me with 3 defenders. I made the catch over the 3 players by out jumping them for the ball. Big win for the Saints and coach Hank Stram.

I was wondering if you were able to obtain the ball or did you keep anything from that game
I was given a special painted and decorated game ball as player of the game. It sits with my collection in my home office. Very proud moment in my career.

How did your team mates react to you back on the sidelines and did you do anything special after the game
Teammates were very excited. Had Joe heard the call, he would have been the primary receiver. He probably would have dropped it, and my moment would havve never been. I was an All State tightend in high school so the catch wasn't that difficult, I really need some practice on "spiking the ball. (It was ugly).

    Hope you enjoyed

Well its the end of 2014 and this is the final update for this year
This project was started in 2014 and I am thrilled at the responses ~~~ to date over 250. I still have not figured out a game plan on who to send to - it has been all over the place but hopefully I will be more structured in 2015. Have a great and safe night.

Wow, the 3 from the 1950's are really impressive! And the Patriots fan in me loves the Vrabel. He's coaching somewhere now, right?

I like the comment by Al Carmichael. He must be well into his 80's so I'm sure it brought back good memories for him to see that card.
Rolland Lawrence was an All-Pro on the 1977 Falcons defense that allowed only 129 points in a 14 game schedule. I think the 9.2 points per game allowed is still a record.

When one of these comes back with comments/stories it just puts the return over the top -- 61 years ago is a long time

Congratulations on the collection. Truly one of the best I have seen. Love that Colts Jeff Saturday auto. I was at that game and still remember it quite well.

It has been way way too long since my last post (April 2015) close to 80 returns since then. I will try to post more frequently going forward.

Damn, there are a lot of old ones here, from the 50's! Love the Hornung and Lilly ones.

Edit: and of course, as a Pats fan, I love the Ben Coates! He was Gronk before Gronk, and had more class.

Scott Hunter has a little trouble coloring between the lines, it seems image

Seeing the Ordell Braase auto brings back memories. I got his the same day I got Johnny U's at Atlanta Fulton Co. Stadium in 1968 when I was 11.
    Still got them both.

Very happy I was able to get Jon Ryan's card back -- that was one super wacky play in that NFC Championship game --- its pretty good odds that both Ryan and Gilliam will not score again.

Hi Mike, so many great returns it's hard to pick out a couple I like most. I agree that Ryan and Gilliam are nice unique ones to have. Good to see Ken Anderson, I recently got him TTM as well. Other recent TTMS I've gotten or sent (sorry if you have most or all of them already): Vrabel, Rocky Bleier, Ben Coates, Fouts and Tim Dwight.
