considering the seller & the pedigree, i'd venture a guess of straight to the freekin moon.

As long as prices for graded singles are not going through the roof, I will be happy. Will be interesting to see where that one goes. I will say $1,150.

I sold the two I had on Dec 20th for 850 each. I bet they were from the same case. I'm guessing they bust 1K, but barely.
I cannot hit curveball. Straightball I hit it very much. Curveball, bats are afraid.

I'll guess $1010. If eBay drops quadruple bucks on the closing day, add $50-60 on top of this.

If it's from last year's National, I busted one of those.

$840 with six days to go. These prices are very firm right now. Very impressive with this much time to go.

You should have kept it sealed, Chris! At this rate, it will be a 2K box in about a year or so!

Flatfoot....good luck!!!! I've been kicking myself since the national for not picking up one of those. I still made out pretty good by picking up a 86 football wax box from Steve, but hindsight would have made me pick up the 80 box instead! image

Look, I know that whoevers buying this box is most likely not going to open it so it doesn't really matter what may be inside.

But if someone is actually thinking of spending a grand to rip the thing, some food for thought...

I bought a "July 2013 from a sealed case" 1980 topps wax box from BBCE at the National and every - and I mean every - card was cut like this.

    Hey, if a PSA 9 1981 wax pack commands $400, 1K for a 1980 box is a bargain! LOL!

the unopened market is getting just plain laughable. I'll take 3 PSA 9 Hendersons for that money and still have change..... to each their own!!!

With PSA not even grading wax anymore, I wonder where the buyers' confidence comes for this stuff. It's cool to own and display, no doubt, but say one buys from BBCE and later wants to sell-- how does one get buyers to believe their box is legit sealed?

Most boxes that are bought from BBCE never leave the shrinkwrap.

$1100. I flipped a couple digits in my spot on $1010 prediction.

Trending this backwards, we could see around $2K for the 1978 Topps baseball wax box - BBCE - on eBay right now. It's at $1600 with five days to go. Sorry, I don't have a link (and it's not mine).

I don't think the lack of 1970s product on the market is due so much to belief that product will continue going up forever, but that much of it is held by people with a collector's mentality. I for one hope this will shake more product out onto the market, but am not expecting this (speaking only to 1970s unopened).

I will say this--the strong market prices have driven more mid to late 70s/early 80s boxes to market than we've seen in some time, but prices are remaining as strong as ever, which means we are not at the peak yet.

    Congratulations Manny!!!

Yeah, I never would have thought 1980 Topps wax boxes would sell for over $1k. Looks like I need to find something else to collect, LOL.

To each their own. There are guys out there who pay 10k for a sealed R2D2 toy. I don't get it, but I don't have to. There's enough money and collections and collectibles to go around.
