Check out my newp CONDER TOKENS!!

ThePennyLadyThePennyLady Posts: 4,468 ✭✭✭✭✭
Haven't seen any Conder Tokens being posted lately, so I thought I'd post my newps that I recently got back from grading and photographing! Todd really captured the iridescent toning on the Spence hanger, and I just love damaged die Conders and the Spence padlock is a beaut! I bought the Kent and Perthshire Conders because of their incredible detail, don't you agree!

This beautiful Angusshire - Dundee 39A Conder graded MS65 BN, but had a spelling error on the label so it is going back for a reholder

Those tokens are really sweet. I find the lock token incredibly evocative of the era. What a very, very nice group.

That's the nicest "End of Pain" I've ever seen. By far.

I have to cry foul on the second, though.

Not at you but at NGC.

I had a coin with a less dramatic planchet flaw than that, once. It was copper, and had about the same amount of red.

You get MS66, I got a details grade.

My coin wasn't PMD, either. They noted "planchet flaw" on the label as the reason for the details grade. image

Edit- ah, so that's a damaged die and not a planchet flaw, huh? Hmm.

    I'm still annoyed.

    But lovin' your tokens, nonetheless.

That's just the way most all of the small diameter 1/4 penny padlock Spence tokens left the press.

Of the top of my head I don't recall ever having seen one that didn't have some sort of striking or planchet issues.

Now the pink, green, and yellow iridescent toning on the end of pain to me suggests a second skin that formed after a mild cleaning.

Love the End of Paine. That is my favorite Condor and the only one I actually own.

I've posted it a ton of times but what the heck, since LM mentioned planchet flaws, this ones a peach:

Probably would details grade too. I only paid $150 for it so I don't mind the "character." I really want to put together a set of all the varieties. Maybe one day.

Great post Charmy! Your examples are spectacular as always.

She mentioned ATS that the colors are from linseed oil residue. I have never used it, but it is volitile and can self-combust:

Great eye appeal and I would expect nothing less. Extremely nice.
  • Amazing pieces. Charmy has an eye for quality.

It's not the oil that brings out those false patina colors but the coppers impaired surfaces.

So linseed, olive, mineral oils or even WD40 would all have the same effect.
