Did I Just Strike Gold?

I was opening a box of 2010 T206 cards and pulled this. I dont know anything, but I believe this is an authentic T206 card. Can anyone tell me something about it?

It looks to be an authentic t205 card. I'd estimate it's value at $35-40. Congrats on the pull, very nice card

I wouldn't call it "gold", but maybe slightly tarnished silver

That is actually a T205 gold border. A PSA 4 of that card, last sold for $55.

Awesome! Whats a t205 doing in a t206 box??

Anyway, I am not familiar with the player or the set so I figured someone here would know. I was not sure the rarity of the pulls in these boxes either.

Oh! And another thing....this is not from the 2010 t206, its from the 2002 set. I bought the box to help fill in missing cards. Instead I opened a brand new box to something that I did not want to start.....

If you take it out you'll have to have it graded for authenticity because so many reprints and fakes of the "T" series cards are out there. It's horrible to say, but keep it in the border if you plan to resell.

I thought it being a gold border was why he said "struck gold", not gold as in a very highly valued card?

Also, excuse my ignorance on this question but why is it that PSA does not specify on the label and pop report spec which back variety the card is for a T205 Gold Border (Polar Bear in this case), but they do include it on the T206? Just can't think of a reason for the inconsistency. SGC includes back type on both of these issues.

Topps did put in some T205 buy backs into their T206 product back in the day. In this case, the card is slightly more valuable in the Topps holder. Most of those cards were bought from Kit Young who either sold what he had in stock or bought cards from ot her dealers.

I am not a expert on those cards, but I believe (at least for t206) that the polar bear is a little more rare of a back. Not the most rare back for certain, but it sometimes gives the cards with that back a little bump in price.

Awesome pull. I would rather pull that than a "could be" autographed prospect card that may amount to nothing.
