    I was watching that auction go off last night.

    I think this Carew has a shot at a 9 as well. I have a bunch here in the same condition, all going to PSA this week.

    I think the Rose will 9oc, wonder what that would bring?

    I'd be shocked if that Carew does not get a 9.

    Looks like it's about to become a 1/2 instead of 1/1...haha

    Many of these OPCs you've shown us have one non-rough edge, ie the Dobson.
    Would that be the edge of the sheet?

    No, that's not the edge of the sheet.

    That's just the way they were cut

    The OPC cutting process was done with wires. Depending on the sharpness of the individual wires at the time, there could be different rough cut patterns on any individual card.

    The '71's are so sexy when they are sharp and centered. The rough OPC cut just adds another nuance along with the bolder colors. If there was one post '65 OPC set that I'd want to build and stash away in high grade, it would be the '71s. Alas, I can never find them nice enough in a sizable lot to really start working on it in earnest.

    Alex had a couple of solid years in the Bigs most specifically with the Reds and Angels. His brother was Ron Johnson, a running back with the Giants in the early '70s and a former star at Michigan where he ran for over 340 yards in one game.

    Wow, great grades on a tough set, thanks for sharing, as if the Carew wasn't enough! If you don't mind and find time sometime down the road, I'd be curious to see a scan of what 1971 OPC PSA 8 you have with the worst centering among the ones you have that still managed to pull that grade.
