When dream becomes reality

As a tennaged geek collecting baseball cards in the 1990's, the 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle was like this unrealistic fantasy card that only the ridiculously elite and untouchable could own. I had my Sam Horn and Phil Plantier rookies and eagerly waited each month to see if Beckett would price them over a buck. That was my financial stake in the hobby. How times have changed...

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
The centering is very nice, though is that white mark to the right of Mick on the case or the card?
Congrats on the pickup!

I can relate to the feeling. I remember as a kid seeing a 1935 National Chicle Bronko Nagurski card in a price guide and thinking I would never be able to afford one. I picked one up a few years back and to this day, every single time I look at it, my 12 year old self still can't believe I own it. I picked my card up for WAY less than you had to pay in order to score that Mantle, so your 12 year old self has to be going absolutely nuts.
Congrats on adding one of the most iconic cards ever to your collection.

congrats.
Great looking card
My budget seems to allow me only to continue looking for Sam Horn rookies.
Now if you could get an unopened 1952 high series unopened pack with Mantle showing on back, it would make the perfect compliment.

Collecting:
Any unopened Baseball cello and rack packs and boxes from the 1970's and early 1980s.
Yes you can see on VCP the S/N of the card but that was not my transaction for whatever that's worth. Yes the spot is on the card, but there had to be some reason it's a 6 and that's probably it. As others have mentioned it's all about eye appeal and centering and this card was as nice in that area as I was going to see in my comfort level on price. I gave sold/traded a bunch of stuff and am still selling some stuff I've accumulated over the last couple Of years to help pay for the Mantle and still keep the core of my collection so it's all good
There are iconic cards but there are a select few that are almost bigger than the hobby and I feel like this is one of them. For investment purposes, I am optimistic. If the hobby stays healthy the Mantle should stay healthy.
I am considering a review. The question is if it's bumped who cares? Not selling any time soon. What are everyone's thoughts?

Enjoy the Mick

You can try bumping it but if it would me I'd hate not sleeping with it every night while it was away being fondled by strangers.
