Tab toning

Would someone please explain for me what "tab toning" is, and for that matter other categories of toning? I am familiar with bag toning apropos silver dollars and album toning, but other terms are a mystery. Thank you very much! -- George

I tried to do some research and the exact definition of "tab toning" i gave you on ebay may have been the incorrect use of the term.
To quote what i responded, hopefully others can give me a better term for what i am trying to describe!!
'"I am not fully sure what to classify the toning as honestly. I believe it to be "Tab Toning" which is caused by the material used for the ink in the slab but i cannot be 100% sure. It covers the rims on both sides and the entire obverse but does not appear to be typical bag toning or album toning."'
Here is the coin i was referencing when i used the term as i could not exactly place the toning:

You could also search for "bag toning", "pastel toning", "rainbow toning", "ugly toning", etc.
Just enter "tab toning" into eBay search engine and you well come up with textbook examples.

That is not tab toning
i wasnt sure what toning to call it, i thought it was toning from sitting in the older NGC holder and the ink or paper in the "TAB" caused the toning...just trying to learn myself what this is called for the next time someone asks
<< <i>That 1899 NGC64 was the coin that inspired the question, i just thought it would be easier to discuss where the question came from if the coin was there for everybody to see.

As long as the toning is pretty, which it is on that dollar, why need to know how it occurred?
