Doug, here's mine......even did a thread about it a few months ago, but haven't sent it in yet......centering is great, but that lower left corner really shows with the card in a Card Saver, so my suggestion is to sleeve yours and then examine it again with a little pressure on top to expose any corner flaws.

my opinion is that we're both good for a 9 here, but being wrong is one of my stronger characteristics, too. image

    Doug,

I think PaulMaul is talking about the top left. I sort of see it too but that could be the scan. I don't know. Maybe it can still ten as it is barely noticeable to me.

Itzagoner, you have a nice Rose too and it could definitely look like a nine to me. I do think Doug's is a hair nicer, but that could just be the scans.

Two sweet Pete Rose cards for sure. Good luck to you both.

That's what I was talking about. It could just be a piece of fiber making it look that way, impossible to tell without seeing it in person.

<< <i>If it isn't to much trouble, please re scan the Rose by itself. It looks very strong. >>

    Here you go Dave:

I still see bottom right-front corner after really looking close, really, really close(but could be fiber, not in hand like paulmaul said about the top left). Others have said top left. Which I don't see so much.
People wonder why TPG's never seem to have a consensus. These comments in this thread about this Rose answer that question image

Just to clarify, I'm talking about the top left of the landscape back scan.

    gotcha image

any chance PSA would knock off anything for the stray mark down near PRTD in USA? Or is that something that would pass regardless?

I see what Paul Mail is referring to on the top left corner of the back of the card in the scan. Doug is that a ding or is it just a "lift." If the latter, I would place the card in a CS I and put som e heavy pressure opn it. Cards from vending or out of the pack will sometimes have a slight "lift" to on a corner which is different from a ding and can usually be flattened out, similar to how a bowed card can also be "flattened out" in a CS I. I say this because there is zero indication of any ding on that same corner from the front of the card. I still think you have a shot at a 10 with that card.

Edit to add: Upon further review, that corner appears just as sharp as the others--is there any crease below the point on the corner? I'm thinking it is simply the scan.

I saw that, too, but it is not distracting enough to lower grade, imo.

PSA's grading standrds for the PSA 10 grade would even indicate that it allows for as much:

    GEM-MT 10: Gem Mint
A PSA Gem Mint 10 card is a virtually perfect card. Attributes include four perfectly sharp corners, sharp focus and full original gloss. A PSA Gem Mint 10 card must be free of staining of any kind, but an allowance may be made for a slight printing imperfection, if it doesn't impair the overall appeal of the card. The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse.

Hey Guys ... I can understand what you are saying about the top left corner of the reverse. However, those are just fibers in the card.

JMO I've looked at this card a number or times not to mention the top left corner. I can't see any reason why that card will not be put in a 10 holder. Very good looking Rose front & back.

Doug, the Rose is very nice. Based on the results you and Tim had with your boxes, I am tempted to break 1 of the 2 vending boxes I picked up from the gaspipe case.

Man, I go to work and spend two and a half hours driving 15 miles home in the snow and you are ripping '81 vending boxes. The nerve of some people. I bet you didn't even shovel your driveway until today.

    Btw, nice Rose. image

Tom & Jeff ... you are probably right, but I've never sent in a card for a review. Looking close there MAY be a touch on one of the corners, but it is still nicer than a couple of the 10s I have seen.

Doug - Thanks for the follow up. I just looked at the price differences between PSA 9 & 10 and it's pretty extreme.

    HELL YEAH it is! That's what I was pissed. A "9" is a $25.00 card and a "10" will get you $1,500.00!!!!!
