Coach Hoodie has jumped the shark with this comment:

Bill says Wes did it on purpose

With all due respect to Pats fans, I will be interested to see what happens when Brady retires.

I think that interview was classy, he didnt raise his voice once or say anything except his opinion in which he is entitled too.

Not bashing him, Perk. I respect his ability and his record.

    No beef with you.

However, to say that Welker did that on purpose is wrong.

Just stating my opinion and letting others have access to the article. You are free to disagree.

Clearly Welker didn't intend on hurting Talib. But nobody will never convince me that it was simple "rub" play that "every team runs". Even though he's open, Welker never looks back to Manning for the ball. It's clear his intent is to pick Talib...and by pick, I mean run into him full-on with no intention of avoiding him. Welker sees him 5-7 yards away and could easily veer off to avoid contact. If DBs can't hit defenseless WR's, why can WR's hit defenseless DB's?

Tough play for Talib, but where do you think Welker learned it from, LOL..

"It was a deliberate play by the receiver to take out Aqib."

This is the part of the statement that I disagree with.

Again, with respect to Pats fans, this part the story struck me as the words of a sore loser. And it is far from classy, IMHO.

Sorry Robert, Im just still freaking annoyed after talking about the Pats all day today, Brady and Bellichek are close to losing as many big games as they have won.

Im being the sore loser so again I apoligize to you.

I don't think Welker was trying to hurt Talib but the contact was absolutely intentional and the way he did it differs from the normal illegal pick you see all the time. Welker went low - contact was made at the waist or below. That's completely different than a normal pick. Welker wasn't even upright at the time of contact.

    Was it pass interference? Absolutely.

Was it dirty? I think so.

Was the intent to injure? I don't think so but going low like that definitely makes it LOOK like that was his intent.

No worries here, Perk. It was a questionable play, no doubt. I was disappointed in his reaction.

I changed the title of the thread. That may have been too harsh on my part.

I wouldn't say that Welker was intentionally trying to injure him, but that wasn't a clean play, and led directly to New England's best pass defender missing the rest of the game and the passing game from Denver taking off immediately after.

I editted my initial response as well

    well said Tabe.

It is probably bad form for Belichick to come out like that yesterday, but look at it from his perspective. His best corner is injured for the 2nd straight season in the AFC title game, and his defense is shredded after he leaves, leading to two losses in games they were winning or had a chance to win. I'm not saying the Pats would have won if Talib played the whole game, but it would have been a ball game.

He knows how hard it is to make a Super Bowl. Having a chance slip though your fingers because of an in-game injury incurred on a borderline play would be frustrating for anybody. A lot of coaches would have handled it far worse.
