Unopened Pack hitting all time high

Great looking Molitor and Murray rookies cello selling at an all time high. I believe the pop on this is 3 and the last one I saw sold was at $500. Another all time high significantly broken for a rookie showing unopened pack. I wonder what the price of this will be in another 2-3 years over $1000?

It's too bad the source of this pack is of questionable character to say the least.

It also helps that the Molitor card "belongs" on top and Murray "belongs" on the bottom. So it's got that going for it...... Which is niesh.

Hey Mike, I know a lot of people don't like Probstein personally is that your point or why do you say this pack has a bad source? If so the price migh be even more impressive.

Mike was referring to Jose, not Rick.

Jose has publicly admitted what he did over on NET54. Too bad the authorities did not string him up for his fraud.

No, I have no problem with Rick Probstein. As Dave said, I meant the person that originally submitted the pack for grading.

As a good friend once said, "All that glitters is not gold".

That's too bad, it's a fabulous pack but sometimes things are just too good to be true I guess.

I'm still very happy about the price for personal reasons....in the height of the recession I picked up a gai graded rack with Molitor on top and Murray on the back for $300. And then my favorite Molitor trio of course is:

I remember when you got those signed and the picture you took of Molitor while signing them. It's good that you got a couple of backup to help fund other pursuits in the future if you need too.

I know you remember these two I have.

I really wanted to go after this pack, but I couldn't get comfortable with how the cello appears on the back left. It is different looking from all the '78 cellos I own (I am referring to the off-white coloring/bubbling). Had it looked better, I would have placed a higher bid than the winning bid. It was also a little frustrating to see that it was a pop 3 instead of a pop 1 as claimed. That's a big difference to me.

The note from Jose inside makes it a 1/1.

    hahahahahahahahaha

I bought one of the other PSA-9s from an Alan Rosen auction sometime back in the mid '90s. It was raw way back then of course. Had it slabbed 5 or 6 years ago.

Molitor on top with Murray on bottom?? Sorry, not believing that is a real pack.

Certainly a rare pack I'd say one in about 50,000 but no reason I see not to believe its real. Wish I had it in my collection. Speaking of which that Carter cello looks great too!!

The odds of a Molitor on Top/Murray on Back pack are no greater than 1:131,769. This is assuming that only A/B/C sheet cards can be found on back and only D/E/F cards can be found on top. I'm quite certain a minute number of exceptions exist, hence the "no greater than."

Considering that a pack like this would mathematically be found roughly once in every 544 cases, I'm surprised that so many have survived intact.
