Bo Knows... buy the grade, not the card

This card tends to come out of wax and sets clean, and I think complete factory sets, with Frank Thomas, etc., would set you back about $4. There are, I would guess, a million or so of these cards in circulation.

In the early 1990s, this was as popular as any card except maybe the Griffey UD. And since my dad went to Auburn, Bo was my guy.

While "buy the card, not the grade" is a great general rule, in this particular instance I made an exception. This is a card that I purchased just because of of my sentimental attachment to it coupled with, more importantly, its being a pop 1.

That's a great price for such an iconic card from that era. Nice purchase! The original buyer took a small bath on it though.

Thanks. I was actually tempted by the seller's BIN price of $300, but decided to wait it out since he only paid $100. Very good seller by the way. Got here very quick.

I have 70 of these, because it is such a cool card, and I thought that I would be rich someday selling them, lol. None of mine are graded either.
  • That was one of my favorites as a kid as well. Grabbed it in a psa 10 soon after getting back into the hobby a year ago. As a boston guy I got these two childhood favs as well

Thanks Todd and Tim. I know it's a little silly to pay a 500-1000% premium (literally) for the flip/grade, but this simple card is one of my favorites.

This was the first card I purchased when I came back into collecting as an adult in July of 2013. This is more than I would have paid for the card because I have one in a PSA 10 and I feel it is a good example, however, the card looks good in this holder and like some have said I've never seen an SGC 100 although I don't usually seek out SGC cards. Congrats.

Thanks! I used some Novus (level 2) acrylic scratch remover and it did a great job of removing surface scratches on the case with just a single application. The black SGC background also seems to work well with this card.

Posting all of this while watching an entertaining football game.
