    very nice, what's the weight?

You had to ruin it image Who cares what the weight is on an item like that? It's all about the design and the uniqueness of it. Weight is irrelevant on such a piece. It's not bought and sold based on Spot, at least it shouldn't have been. It should've been sold by the seller and considered by the buyer as to the "cool factor", not how much it weighs. If the seller sold it as such, he was a fool. All jmho.

  • Today I went to the NY International Numismatics Convention.
I wish I had the money to buy all the gold I saw! What beautiful pieces there are around the world!
I purchased my first Brazilian bullion, 300 Cruzeiros, together with a couple of 20 Francs to get the tax exemption.

I fell in love with the 8 Escudo! Got to buy one as soon as I have some cash available!

Looks like a Shepard Manufacturing Company spoon from the late 1800's early 1900's. What can you tell us about it?

People like you on this site ruin the whole thing and is why it's rapidly declining in commentary that can be civily debated. It was a comment, and you call me a jackass? Go pound dirt til you pass out McFly.

That is exactly the point that is apparently being missed, thank you for clarifying the misconception that silver cannot also be art.

Someone needs to look in the mirror when they claim someome else needs to learn manners and take a look back and determine who called who a jackass first, and also inaccurately claiming something is vulgar too. They also have too much time on their hands and care WAY too much about what someone elses comments was a freaking SPOON! ROTFLMAO! Grow up image

Ummm.... No one said that silver can not be art... You implied that... Meaning, you made that up by twisting what was said and putting your OWN personal feelings into the words of someone else.

Someone asked a simple question, "what's the weight?". This being a precious metals forum, that is not a crazy question.

You in turn respond rudely by saying, "You had to ruin it Who cares what the weight is on an item like that? It's all about the design and the uniqueness of it. Weight is irrelevant on such a piece. It's not bought and sold based on Spot, at least it shouldn't have been. It should've been sold by the seller and considered by the buyer as to the "cool factor", not how much it weighs. If the seller sold it as such, he was a fool. All jmho."

Basically you were belittling him and implying that he does not understand that this piece is also considered art to some. He simply asked the weight to get a feeling for how large it is (As he stated in another post). If you want to get technical, the original post said, " So this guy walks into the shop and says: "would you be interested in this silver spoon ? "
What would you say ?". The OWNER of the spoon called it a silver spoon, not a piece of art. The original post asked, "What would you say?" and a proper response to someone that walks into a coin or precious metal shop and says, "Would you like to buy this silver" could be, "what's the weight?". As a buyer of precious metals, the shop owner wants to buy it for the silver content, not the "Art" aspect of it, ESPECIALLY since the seller walked into the shop (NOT and Art shop) and asked the precious metals buyer if he wanted to buy a SILVER spoon. It's up to the seller to figure out what they are selling and what they want for it... and where to sell it, not to the shop owner that specializes in precious metals.

You could have said something like, "That is a beautiful piece of art, it's all about the design and the uniqueness of it. Regardless of the weight I like it. I would have paid anything that they were asking. As a buyer I look at the "cool factor" of pieces like this and do not consider weight."

This would have caused less bashing back and forth, and you would have got your point across that you feel that this spoon as a unique piece of art.

    Have a wonderful Monday.

lets get this straight. I was not asking YOU what the weight was. You like to babble on and on. your amount of comments since being a member shows that you just cant keep your mouth shut on any topic. 2nd, I told you not to PM ever again. The first PM tells me to go screw myself more than ONCE. So now, who is childish? Why take it to next level? You have sent me a 2nd PM which I told you not to do. Havent opened it because I do not want to keep doing this nonsense with you .....( so I open the PM and member POS has told me he will keep PMing me as long as he likes unless I block him, sounds like a harassing lunatic if you ask me but he is now blocked)

Yes, it is a very nice option to have to block the arseclowns. Oh, and by the way, I thought commenting on what was said in pm's was frowned upon? That's just for certain people though, right? No matter, I know no rules apply because I treat this for what it is, a chat board. Some take it far more serious than it should be, like it's having a face to face. If those of you who lash out could be honest with yourselves for just a moment (which I know is every hard for you to do), you'd admit that no one would ever speak to one another in person the way it does here, because you'd get your arse beat if you did. So to accuse me of hiding behind a computer keyboard is laughable, because people from here and other sites who have met me face to face know that I talk the same way in person as I do here. If truth and facts are too much for you to bare, then just ignore, that's all you have to do, ignore. In fact, please ignore me, and I will take my own advice on that too.

When are you guys going to get it? I dont care what you think of me. This isn't a popularity contest. I've done transactions with over 325 people here, not 325 transactions, 325+ people, many of which have been and continue to be multiple repeated customers. I have that base built up, and there's a reason people continue to do business with me. Trying to discredit me is kind of mute at this point, and honestly is laughable.
I'll say it again because it needs repeating, people like you ruin this place. I made a comment, then you immediately called me a jackass and continue to berate me, for making a comment about my opinion on a spoon. That's worth being called a name? By doing so, I know what I'm dealing with now and it's all there for others to determine who drew first blood. Making a comment on a spoon isn't drawing blood. Instantly calling someone a jackass for making that comment is self evident who the jackass really is.

Not trying to feed into what you just said but in a related topic...

The saying, "Hide behind the keyboard" got me to thinking... Many of the situations that happen on chat sites would not normally happen in real life because most of these people (That are in the conflict) would not hang out and chat in real life so these types of arguments would not happen. When introduced in a chat site such as this, we all have something in common which is a starting point, but our inner personalities will always trump and our true colors will shine through.

Just saying, someone as short tempered I would most likely not hang out with. Someone that is quick to say "Merica" I would not hang out with... The list could go on... which is probably why I am sitting here on a chat site... alone...lol.

Have a wonderful Monday folks (Where's my popcorn).
