D. Carr's 2013 Indian Nickel Centennial 1 oz silver rounds

Who has some of these? Baley and Renski have posted these in a previous thread. Do you like them?

I'm still debating them, they seem to be a reasonable price so for me - the real issue is the aesthetics.

I bought several and I'm quite pleased with them. I believe they are only for sale until the end of the year.

I like em. However, I don't have the extra $500 lying around to get a bunch of them. Buying the one is a little pricey imo.

I like the centennial tribute wording, it's tastefully done and borders the classic design in small font, and I like the large blank area of silver and the smooth edges, though they are a little slippery to hold. Nice cases too..

comrade jmski, I LOVE them. Also, comrade baley and I (confirmed by comrade dc) have "discovered" that some rounds are coins turn and others are medal turn by an 8:5 ratio."
  • cool design, different, really like them

Cnn you explain what this means (and how you tell?)

<< <i>"Coin turn" means that the reverse image is "upside down", as compared to the obverse (flip coin top to bottom). "Medal Turn" means the reverse is same as obverse (flip coin sideways). For example, American Silver Eagles are coin turn, Pandas and Maple Leafs are Medal turn.

I was not aware that some were medal turn and some were coin turn. I'll have to check mine out (bought 2)....

I do like the design, but am kind of partial to most of Dan's works.... >>

    aha...got it...thanks

    From the Moonlight Mint website:

    5) Price is $3.75 over “spot” per coin for orders above $500 paid by check,
or $35 each for individual coins.
    6) 370 have been minted with medal-turn orientation.
857 have been minted with coin-flip orientation.
Most of these were struck on burnished blanks with shiny edge.
Some were struck on raw blanks with matte edge (all matte edge have coin-flip).

Now, I do not like the "symbolic" twenty dollar value; why not make it $200 or $2 million, if we're going to have some fun?

Give me "Five Cents" on mine, please

Dan Carr visited our table at the Long Beach Show in September and showed us one of these in person. Loved it and decided to show it to the folks in my coin club. They loved it too and we all got together and ordered over 200 of them. I think the were all coin turn variety. Very cool!

2013 Indian Head Nickel Centennial, One Troy Oz 999 SILVER round, "FIVE CENTS" symbolic face value, single coin $35

Mintage will be limited to the quantity ordered during the last four months of 2013.

Why are single coin orders still being taken for this coin on D. Carr's site?

Part of the attraction for me was that mintage was ending in 2013.

Final mintage numbers should be known at this point and the coin should show sold out.

I saw that too care4me. I ordered some under the impression they are no longer available, but, looks like actually are, just at a much higher premium.

    Zub,
You could always order singles at $35 each or $500 min by check at spot+$3.75.

Both types were supposed to close after 2013 and final mintage capped at that time.

Everyone I talk to loves the work so perhaps someone with more history with D. Carr could shed light.

Website is pretty clear. Sales should have stopped weeks ago.

I thought sales ended at the end of 2013 too... disappointing to hear that may not have been or may still not be the case?? They are pretty neat rounds though... hope another cool round is issued for 2014!

Maybe some orders did not go through. Problem with credit cards, changed mind, etc. Just selling what was ordered and not paid for.
