Storage tips

For those of us in climates where it will eventually get too cold and frozen to hunt image, what are some tips for storing your detector over the winter? I plan to take the battery out and make sure there is no dirt/crud left on the machine.

Any other advice?

Those are two good steps.... also, I would recommend hanging it if possible....keeps it off the floor and out of the way of possible damage. Cheers, RickO

Yes. Battery out and clean it. Not sure there's much benefit but I dismantle it the best I can too. Let things air out a bit and take the stress off the attachments and be able to clean it more. Might have to put it back together tomorrow if the weather cooperates!

Thanks, I appreciate the replies. I'm not ready to put it away just yet. When not in use in-season, I typically just have it upside down (box on bottom, coil on top), resting in a closet.
