  • Obvious mislabel.

EDIT: Can I assume you are going to crack it and sub to PSA?

Negative. I will keep it as is. If I ever decided to sell it, I will sell it correctly, and not by the flip.

So for the time being, you are admitting that it is a mislabel

Someone refresh my memory, is the white strip to the left of Koosman supposed to indicate it's a Topps or a Milton Bradley, OR do they both have the white strip in that same place and that's not indicative of anything other than being miscut?

I ask because I have the sheet below, and I've only seen two of them and mine might actually be the one I've seen from before. The first one was sold directly through the Topps Vault auction at the National a few years ago and was labeled as a Topps not a Milton Bradley, and I bought mine from REA auctions which was labeled as Topps as well. As you can see from my sheet, it's pretty clear that the Ryan could have the white to the left of Koosman and to the top of the card. Was both Topps and REA wrong when they auctioned it and it's actually a Milton Bradley?

Or is it that the Milton Bradley has a really skinny area of brown between Koosman and the strip, and the Topps is much thicker?

Or is it that both Topps and Milton Bradley have various levels of "fatness" of the brown before the white strip starts based on whatever "printing plate" or process they were using that day?

Mike, white strip is common on the MB. Tour sheet was correctly labeled as a Topps, and shows a nice fat section of brown before the white starts. That is why so many Topps are OC, but don't show the white strip. The MB sheets must have much less tolerance before the white starts.

What amazes me is that this has been missed by a multitude of people. Not only has it made it through a number of graders at the TPG, but it was missed by the submitter and numerous others who had seen it for sale. You would think that somewhere along that line someone would double check authenticating such a high profile card. Good eye Bobby, start looking for #3!

I don't know either one of you but I don't get the feeling he is jealous of you or anyone on this board is for that matter.

What is it like to sit at home and have a card in hand and plot a thread like this? Do you really get off on this?

  • bobbyw8469bobbyw8469 Posts: 7,139 ✭✭✭
Sounds like jealousy to me. And as to answer your question, it allows me to get a "dig" in with all the trolls and alt who unfairly/unjustly attacked me on the other thread. Me (as well as others) see the sweet irony behind all of this. And you of all people should understand. I remember a time not too long ago when you were unfairly ostracized.

I guess I just approach things differently. I would rather let the results speak for themselves. People in most cases remember what they write.

My dad taught me a very valuable lesson at a young age. My last name is Peck. At the bus stop and at school most of the kids would call me and my brothers Peckerhead. It used to drive me nuts and they knew it. He said just ignore them and it will drive them nuts.

    Guess what? He was right.

Hopefully you got the card at a good price and to me that would be satisfaction enough.
  • There's no irony, and you're making a fool of yourself, because you still don't understand why your PSA 7 (MC) isn't a Milton Bradley.

  • navarro, you have a Topps sheet. A Milton Bradley sheet consists of 1968 Topps baseball cards, 1967 Topps football cards, and 196x Topps Hot Rod cards.

The white on a Milton Bradley Nolan Ryan is not from the white area on the bottom of a sheet. The Ryan is not on the bottom of a Milton Bradley sheet. The white on a MB Ryan is the border of an adjacent 1967 Topps football card.

    Pay attention, Bobby.

Thanks. Makes sense to me. Does anyone have pics of a Milton Bradley sheet? Would be neat to see.

There is a picture somewhere in the SC&M forum. It's adjacent to a football card, which explains the wider white border. I did a quick search but couldn't find it. Bet it can be located with an advanced search (Chrome browsers can't for whatever reason).
So basically my kid won't be able to go to college, but at least I'll have a set where the three most expensive cards are of a player I despise ~ CDsNuts

I'm about as jealous of you, Bobby, as Bill Gates is of your wealth...

Most of us would love to laugh WITH you, but seems we can't stop laughing AT you. When you stop trying so hard to garner attention and being so argumentative about things even when proven wrong, maybe you'll find some peace and we can join along with you in this fun hobby. It is really a tough thing to do, though, considering your constant combative stances and misdirected insults.
