Extremely frustrated...

I listed a card 7 days ago that has been selling well raw. My card is graded BGS 9 mint, however, there is someone that's been listing BCCG 10 of these cards left and right. They are a high volume seller that is well known as well.

I'm frustrated because all of their cards are set to auction and are selling for well below what they are worth, driving the price down. I'm venting and I know I should get over it, but it's just incredibly frustrating that this person probably knows what they are doing by flooding the market with cheap gem 10's.

Subsequently, I'll be lucky if I even get back what I've put in.

Welcome to the world of Mom and Pop shops when Walmart opens in town...
  • Well, the good news is that there are only 3 in BCCG 10. Looks like he has all 3. He's sold one, one will end tomorrow and the other is listed for a 6 day auction.
  • Just wait it out. When his supply is gone things will change, although it may take awhile for prices to recover.

There are a bunch of sellers, like 4SC, that have a ton of money invested in graded cards,
and sometimes appear to be giving cards away when their prices are so low on PSA 10 cards.

This happens all the time on eBAY. Sometimes you just have to pull cards off the market and
try again another time. Prices move around in the collectibles market so you have to go
    with the flow.
The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was to convince the PSA 10 collector he didn't exist.

    Mr Guru
Don't worry about it at all.
With the BCCG 10 grade comes the likelyhood its overgraded by 1-2 grades.
So buy it but forget about sending it to a 'real' grading co like PSA.
If you do, then its purchased at a cost of a psa 8 because in reality it is. Most likely thats what you will get
    unlessm is been trimmed...then S-O-O-L
Most of us know that and wouldn't touch that card. Maybe its a true 10?
But I bet its a real crap shoot.
So go ahead and list on a free listing day...no harm

Great comment Scott !!!!!!!!!!!! so true. Perfect timing as just after small business saturday
As a sole proprieter I have to compete against some big national companies. They have million dollar advertizing budgets.
You didn't mention as Walmart moves in...manufacturing jobs move out.

Not sure I understand the original post. Are you upset that a card you purchased has lost value over time?

I think he is frustrated because his perception if what something is worth is not being realized. You need to remember that something is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Perhaps just wait for the right someone!
  • Prices were strong until the person listed the cheap 10's.

This happens all the time. Sellers sometimes list things at ridiculously low prices. They either don't know their true value, or just want to get rid of inventory.

There is no guarantee your "rare" card will stay rare.

If it is a truly hard to find item, the value will be there over time.

I just went through 15,000 cards in putting together my next submission and some of the cards that were worth 25-40 dollars are now not worth sending in even if they look like 10's.

That's just the way it goes.

  • Yeah, I get it. Just needed to vent and decided to do it here since I think everyone would understand. Thx.

Don't worry about Because Children Can't Grade card prices. Mosr serious buyers know that their definition of "Mint or better" encompasses pretty much everything that's 7.5 or above by BGS or PSA standards.
