Top Kennedy half dollars?

I was checking on the Kennedy half dollar populations; in the 1964 issue it looks like PCGS has only certified one MS68 (D mint) and 78 deep cameo PR69s. What are the most high value Kennedy half dollars?

You might also want to add the 1967 SMS "birthmark" variety - one that gets lots of attention here, but little elsewhere image

  • Regarding the 67 "birthmark" I sure wish our hosts would recognize it and add it the the complete proof variety registry set

Nice '80-D's without scrapes are tough!

Even in true MS-65 they are tough.

Without a doubt, THE most high valued Kennedy Half Dollar is the 1964 Special Strike Issue.

After that, any pre-1967 proof or SMS coin in 69 DCAM not excluding the 1971-S PR69DCAM.

Of course, since these are modern coins which were minted by the millions, it is not out of the realm of possibility for those PR69DCAM pops to go up.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

Next year, being the 50th year for the Kennedy, how 'bout a "reverse proof" ( I realize this probably had been discussed in previous threads, sorry). My favorite Kennedy is the "Accented Hair' w/High Cameo!

Funny, I was thinking about you (and Caleb) when I made the post! Notice I did not say 1964 SMS coin but instead used "Special Strike Issue"? Yep. CALEB.

Even old dogs can learn new tricks. For quite a while PCGS was pretty spotty in their use of the term but they are more consistent now. I think they will always be known as both. Take care Lee!
