He was fortunate to have actively been buying when things were cheap, decades before investor money started moving in. I don't think that people collecting U.S.-related material will have that kind of opportunity again (15,000x increase), unless things like wooden nickels start going through the roof.

If sales like this are publicized more and more we may see some even higher prices down the road due to more people getting interested and less supply. Who knows? It may raise the lower end coins (like mine) with it.....

As didn't he buy the F.C.C. Boyd collection of 50,000 items for $25K which was probably already worth close to $1M in the 1950's?
