  • That is a really nice one!

I'm going to guess AU53 if the luster is right, assuming you send it in.

I'm thinking about the same thing.

The picture shows the luster very accurately (not a great deal, but there is some).

Appears to have a lot of meat left on the bone. Nice example and the CC makes it xtra special.

This appears to be Briggs 3-B, if so it should have the fine edge reeding (153 reeds).

I have Briggs book for sale. Then of course you could sit home and count the reeds. Hey no kidding! That is a beautiful coin. Nice going.

The 'TAT' in States are touching.

Shouldn't this be associated with the greatly spaced 'CC' mintmark?

Put another way, my coin with the close spaced 'CC" should have the 'TAT' widely spaced (according to NGC's Type 1 and type 2 reverse).

The 0.3 mm spacing of mintmark letters on your coin may seem close in comparison to Reverse A (from initial use on 1873-CC N/A), which has a radically wide spacing of 0.8 mm., and reverse D which has a spacing of 0.4 mm.

Reverse B is the only die for which the right C is notably higher than left C as well. Briggs makes no mention of TAT joined at base serifs in the description of 1876-CC tail dies.
