It's like the "iff our coins could talk" thing. This hardhat was there. The Landing, the near tragedy of Apollo 13... If it could talk! image

I like that Apollo 11 sticker, looks like the reverse of an Ike dollar.

You know, something occurs to me reading this post, and this is how I'm really starting to feel about most coins, almost all coins in fact:

Although I do not personally care to own it, but I'm very pleased that it exists, and happy that someone else does care about it, so that it will continue to exist.

    That is cool.

It always strikes me that the astronauts took 1964 dimes and mercs to space but
when they came home they spent 1969 quarters just like everyone else. When they
emptied their pockets into their lockers to put on their spacesuits it was brand new
1969 quarters that stayed home. That ground crew sometimes wore the original of
the Ike dollar reverse really puts things in context; it was 1969 and not 1964.

By the time this helmet was retired the Ike dollar had been issued.

Most of these have replaceable bands and liners that get changed when they get funky. You could always just remove them if you find them too disturbing.
