I clicked through the "Last Chance" link, and it also shows the unc. MacArthur on backorder (with a ship date of 10/18/2013 ???). It's possible that the Mint will strike more unc. MacArthur coins, but it's getting late in the year and the Mint has other priorities. Sales have averaged less than 100 per week recently, so recent demand may not justify additional strikings.
We won't know anything for sure until the backorder status is removed or the coin is officially sold out.
A buddy of mine placed a wholesale order last night after the back order notice. If US mint gets a few more bulk orders like his after the backorder, I am sure that they will fire on all cylinders to strike a few thousands more (as they did last December for the banner gold). Let's wait and see.

Good Question Mitch also I need to correct my post it is currently 23 PCGS MS70 non First Strike Population. Over 100 of the PCGS First Strike MS70 coins.. PCGS values the FS at $700 in 70 $550 in NFS
You will be surprised how many first strike eligible coins are there in the sealed boxes. POP will change a lot in case of early soldout that typically motivates PCGS submission.

Personally I'm looking for the official mintage of the 1913 Nickel to be finally released to the collecting world. By now the Mint has got to have realized the mistake they made.
This is an opportunity that the Mint most certainly already has considered.
Come on US Mint. Help me out here. I'm just tryin my best to polish up the crystal ball.
<< <i>According to CW, I see that the total purchased to date are in the range of approx. 5,000 coins for both proof and Unc...are those mintages still low enough to be compelling? >>
The thing that gets me is that the Royal Canadian Mint consistently cranks out new sub-10,000 mintage issues almost weekly. Some of them have great secondary market drive (especially after a sellout), but not all are a sure thing. The 5SG coins are a tough read, I don't personally think they will have an outstanding secondary after all is set and done mainly because of the subjects that it commemorates.
If looking strictly at resell, My answer is still "nope."
Build you cash for 2014 non-commemorative gold and silver issues. Declining PM prices will limit future sales of collector eagles, buffalos and special issues where return on investment is risky. Limited sales will result in lower final mintages of a more collected and sought after coin series.

Is the General MS is done? It is on backorder. I bought mine last week and have it now, though not a MS70. Shall see if it was worth it, but not much downside for purchasing and hoping for a new key.

The Mint has specifically stated that these will remain on sale until Dec. 31. This leads me to believe that they are not done. What do others think?
I believe they should mint the whole mintage authorized and then those that don't sell blow via the USM site be blown out via something like "US Govt Bullion Depository" (something like APMEX Bullion Center) and have a special PCGS Label like the one on the coins labeled "Apmex Bullion Center ". The coins could then be auctioned off starting around BV. Or others could be simply sold raw in a special case like the GSA Dollars.
I say to heck with all this speculation stuff on mods. Then the people who could not afford them the first time would have a fair chance to acquire them in the aftermarket with first bid starting at BV. Then the market would decide just how high the bids could go. I would rather see a bunch of high mintage mod commem gold coins around BV than the speculation game.
At a recent show I saw a dealer with some PCGS Gold mod bullion coins in his case with the special PCGS label "APmex Bullion Center on Ebay" and he was charging a $10 premium on them because this is a "pedigree." Are you kidding me?
If it is a well known fact that fully authorized mintage exists, these coins will be worth their melt value, and will be it. I don't about what you mean by "cheep." The melt value puts a floor under the price that will not look "cheep" to small collectors. These coins are worth several hundred dollars because of their melt value.

Seems to me the Mint has played games with us before , seems to me they are doin us again. As mentioned , the use of predated ( pastdated ? ) ship dates is really odd. Offhand I'd say the final mintage of everything on the last chance list is about to get a big bump during these last days.
Clads are on backorder. Could be the lowest half comm beating the 2011 army. Right now with the profile collection and singles around 31K, but the profile collection is not backordered. Will they bother with the clads to mint more. I don't think the profile collection will sell much unless the single clad goes dark.

Yup. Fire up the presses. Looks like Jackie is safe - but still have dropped a LOT lately. Interesting that despite low mintage the SSB Unc has done poorly. Perhaps, this and the 5 star unc are good buys for a mid term hold at these prices.
Hard to tell. OR they are waiting to process cancelled orders/returns. It seems like they would be busy now with 2014 transitions to re-strike old issues. I'm predicting the halves will go dark in a week.

Even the 2011 Army and MOH gold UNC $5s had a low mintage, relative to most of the coins in the series. The MOH gold looks fantastic. I wish I'd kept it instead of flipping it for $40.

<< <i>Latest mint report as of 12-8 has the unc. at 5,225. >>
Previous report was 4,857. So this shows an increase of 368 *orders* during the past week. There is still the question of whether the Mint will do another run of these coins, and if so how many additional coins will be struck.
The mint has to strike some minimum number of additional coins in order for the process to be cost-effective. Sales must end on December 31, so the Mint cannot just strike a few thousand more and wait several months for them to sell out.
I'm not fully convinced that there will be additional strikings, and even if there are, the total mintage should still be reasonably low. If I'm wrong and several thousand additional coins are sold during the rest of December, I think that many will be returned after January 1 by disappointed flippers and consigned to the melting pot.
<< <i>If it wasn't for Truman, he could have saved us the Korean War and Kim Jung Ill, and saved the corncob pipe industry to boot. >>
The issues were not as simple as that.
After MacArthur made his brilliant move and outflanked the North Koreans by landing troops behind their lines at Inchon, the Allies drove the North Korean Army all up the their northern border, the Yalu River. At that point the Chinese Communist Army got in to the conflict and drove the allies to a point below the 38th parallel. Eventually under the leadership of General Matthew Ridgway, the military situation was stabilized.
MacArthur made a public issue of expanding the war and bombing the North. Truman had three issues to consider:
1. Did the U.S. want to get involved in an Asian land war in China's backyard? 2. Was Korea worth the risk of starting World War III with Chinese Communists and possibly Russia involved? 3. Did General MacArthur and military control U.S. policy or did the civilian president control it? Think long and hard before you submit to letting the military run the U.S. In other countries the results have not been pretty.
When Truman relieved MacArthur of his command, he showed the correspondence he had had with MacArthur with General George Marshall. After reading those letters, General Marshall said, "You should have fired son of a b**ch a long time ago."

These are still only orders, the final totals will depend on whether the Mint strikes additional coins. My guess is that only about 5000 were struck in the initial batch.
The final order total for the unc. 2011 Lucretia Garfield First Spouse was 2498, but reportedly more than 300 of these orders were canceled due to inventory being sold out. The unofficial final mintage is 2167.

That's true that these are probably just orders but the mint doesn't have a record of being fast about correcting sales reports and in the interim the market will go by what the sales reports say. Between now and the end of the ordering period this coin will likely rack up alot more orders.
