1956-D RPM#16 in 3D

Fellow forum member Bolivarshagnasty sent me a 1956-D RPM #16 to see how it would show up with 3D imaging. This variety has the secondary D punched onto the bottom tip of the 9.
The first image is the original, straight-on, stacked image. All the others are renderings based on the depth map from the stacked image. I used Helicon Focus to take the original sequence of 31 images, do the focus stacking, and render the perspective and 3D images. The stereo views are "cross-eyed". It's best to move a bit away from your monitor, then cross your eyes until you see the phantom 3D image between the original two images.
Comments on how the 3D technique helps to see varieties such as this are welcome...

<< <i>Like I said, you should charge US to take pics of our coins so that PCGS can get it right when we send in Variety designations along with your pics. If they fail me again on the 2 cents I sent this week, I will be knocking on your door.

<< <i>I don't see a D to the SSW (doesn't mean it's not there) but I've always thought this variety was a D over S OMM (or more precisely a D and S DMM), not a D and D. I can see (more like "imagine") some evidence of this above the tip of the 9. I've never seen an overlay of this variety so don't know if it's even possible...Ray >>
With a 20x loupe, you can distinguish the left vertical bar going north to the tail of the 9 which would rule out an S. The pics don't show the vertical bar clearly.
