Finest known out of perhaps ten. Fairly recently surfaced first on eBay, pulled by the seller and consigned to SB. Oddly showing an outsized "nose" related to its over striking it will be a bit of copper candy no doubt for one of "da big boys" Vermont Ryder 35

On ebay.... One gang bombarded the seller with offers, others wanted him to guarantee he would "let it run" as an auction so they could have a shot, still others told the seller to pull it and consign it to a major auction. No Slab? Finest Known? Now you understand exactly HOW important a plastic box is for Great Colonials. I dunno image. From the start I knew it would be a major addition and IF I decided to part ways with Dr. Feuchtwanger I could be a player for it but against extremely dedicated specialists with extremely deep pockets, there would be no chance to top them. Thoughts... Maybe the buyer upgraded and his lower grade example may come on the market. And I know Numismaticslly it matters little but "That Nose"....I don't know if I could get to love that or get tired of trying to 'splain it to others. Many of these varieties in the Thirties are the true "Stoppers". Only Father Time will put them eventually on the Market. Museums have their share too. Oh Well.. Xxx

Wow... old copper sure does bring some big bucks..... living in an area that was very active in colonial times (still some old houses from the late 1600's), I keep hoping to find some old copper while cache hunting... no luck so far..... Cheers, RickO
