CN's Fresno Show Report

The annual Fresno Coin Show was held October 26th and 27th this year. Hosted by our local coin club, the Fresno Numismatic Society, we (Choice Numismatics) were very excited to attend. We attended the show with Glenn from Holsonbake Numismatics and MFH was there also. Dealer setup was Saturday morning and we were met with dealers rearing to go before they had barely set up their own tables. When the show opened at 10AM, we were greeted by a public that was very excited to buy, sell, and have their coins appraised. The attendance on Saturday was almost 500 people. This is quite exceptional for this little show. As a result, many interesting coins were brought to our table including PQ toned Morgans, a 3-legged buffalo, and a half dollar struck after the confederate army took over the mint. There was plenty of buying and selling going on between the dealers and the public and everyone seemed quite excited. For the first time ever, ANACS was in attendance at the show. People were excited for the ability to submit their coins on site.

There were also approximately 16 educational exhibits setup by the club members for public viewing. CoinCast (Luis) and I set up an exhibit on the modern minting process. We did not win an award, but we hope to keep making our exhibit better over the years.

All in all, the show has been getting bigger and better each year, and this year was no exception. We look forward to attending again next year!

The show ending and our group parting ways:

The Raffle Prizes: Yes that is lots of GOLD and Silver!

President Ken Richert making announcements:

The winning exhibit:

This just in, attendance is estimated to be around 700 people. That makes it the Fresno Numismatic Society's best show in about 10 years.

Kevin and I were very proud of our local club. Our Coin Show Chairman was already working this weekend, to make next year even better.
MFH sold me this coin he had on consignment with Glenn for my personal collection. iPhone pictures don't do it justice.
