If the president of the society of silver dollar collectors says it is not real, then I agree with him. As a contemporary counterfeit, does it not have value in it's own right?

Yes. And in this case, since the silver content is correct and it's part of the infamous micro-O counterfeit family tree, the value is no less than that of a real VG 1902-O Morgan dollar. To the right people, it is worth more.
