Very cool. Nice find. I think the Harley race Pedro morales are the best cards in this set so it's too bad they are not in here... You got both funks and brisco though. Those are good ones get some of these slabbed! There are some decent rookies cards in this set and think hardcore wrestling collectors will be interested

I shipped off five of these yesterday to PSA and they most likely will be the first ones ever graded. I sent in under a monthly special so I may not see the cards for a few months.

Awesome.. Good luck. Did you email customer service first. Since no 76 cards have been graded before I would confirm with customer service. Prob will just need to reference an online Checklist. I don't have any of these but the Pedro morales and Harley race always kinda interested me since they are rookies. Looking forward to seeing these slabbed

the winner cards are definatly interesting. I still think that a 74 yamakatsu Andre # 29 winner card would be a top wrestling card. Have any of the winner cards been graded from either set yet?

I just got my Andre graded and it was a PSA 5 (MK), it was winner card redeemed but the gold stamp notation was not on the flip.

The uncancelled Brisco was a rare pickup because it was uncancelled and since it came from the difficult 1976 set.

This is the only uncancelled one I have ever seen. I think a #29 Andre uncancelled would by epic. Also if there is a color variation Andre those would be pretty sweet as well. Not sure if they exist.

Has anyone seen the # Harley race card? I'm curious if it's an in action or solo card. The dory funk and Pedro morales cards are my favorites in the set so far. For some reason I remember Pedro as the first person to hold the tag team, intercontinental and heavey weight WWF belts. I think bret hart was the second and I stopped paying attention to wrestling around that time.. I'm sure there are others now. But I'm pretty sure he was the first

2 of the best cards in this set IMO were just on ebay. The auctions ended today. I have never seen the Harley race # 40 or Pedro Morales # 26 with natural background. I didn't vid since they don't really fit my collection. But for a hardcore wrestling rookie card collector.. They are great finds. The pedro didn't sell but the Harley race sold for 100. Congrats to the winner if they are in the board. Here are images of the cards.

I am not quite sure why that Race went for so much cheaper than the other one......That is a cool card of Morales but collectors are not all that excited about his cards. I think there are other great cards in the set like The Destroyer, Terry Funk, Jack Brisco, and The Sheik more so than the Morales but that is just me.

I can send a back scan when I get it Sumo. I forgot there are cards of Dory Funk, Abdullah the Butcher that I would easily rank over Morales and perhaps even Mr. Wrestling which rank right up there to Pedro.

I went into the auction and pulled a scan of the back for this thread. I updated the checklist as well to add 24b Green Background.

There are some pretty epic cards in this set and those are strong prices for singles. This set is definitely the harder of the two to find and with more star power (minus the Andre in the 1974 set), it's easy to see why the card command a premium.
  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,910 ✭✭✭✭✭
    The Sheik

I contacted the seller when the original listing was going with an opening bid of $199 and said I would offer $100 for the card. He re listed it and I made the offer and it was accepted.

The card looks to be in pretty good shape and hopefully Near Mint.

I have always been intrigued by the original Sheik.

Once I get it graded I will send a scan in email to Les from the Hard Core Pawn TV show. I bet he will think it is so cool as he is a big collector of historical items associated with Detroit.

The Japanese sellers do such a great job with packaging.

Looks good! I just got a box from Japan today with a bunch of goodies and they are very meticulous on packing. Living over there you realize how much attention to detail they put into everything. I have some 1976s coming over later this month including an uncancelled winner and one more previously unidentified card in the set. That puts me at around3-4 left to complete the set. This is a toughie. I could have put together 4-5 1974 sets in the same amount of time.
  • Dpeck100Dpeck100 Posts: 10,910 ✭✭✭✭✭
One of the corners on the back is touched but overall I am thrilled with the condition.

The white back is very clean and I have seen in some scans some discoloration or staining.

Eagles the original Sheik is perhaps the greatest heal of all time. He stayed in character at all times and was legitimately feared for years. This is as far as we know his first hard stock card and a great shot.

Once this baby is graded as I said before I am going to try and get a scan over to Les from Hard Core Pawn. He will love it!

There is a purple background variation to the card too!

No. I just love the show and I know he loves historical Detroit figures and The Sheik clearly fits the bill. Hopefully he smiles when he sees it.

Do you have a scan of the purple background?
