I think it's strike weakness. Nice little die crack.

Nice coin, strong C, weak strike on the leg, which is typical for the issue.

Agree. Very nice original crusty surfaces and I agree with the assigned grade. Definitely a keeper. Some of these come with a very weak mintmark but this one has a nice mintmark. The Dahlonega half eagles from this year also comes with the weak and strong mintmark varieties. The weak mintmarks are not a result of weak strikes. Rather, they were a result of the mintmarks being lightly impressed on the dies.

Coins299---Why did you delete you pics? The comments were generally complementary.

I'm guessing the coin he asked about (PCGS XF45 1850-C half eagle) is up for auction and he doesn't want any competition bidding on this very nice coin. It shouldn't be too hard to find with a little looking.

Actually, it's being offered by both New York Gold Mark and Tom P's site.

But beside that, this is not what this forum is about. Getting an opinion and then taking down the question so no one else can see...

  • Having access to top collectors via the forum means nothing if they are annoyed by you! (R1 looking at you)

  • Lol. It was on my photobucket and I can't configure it on my phone when I tried to resize the image. When I get home from work I will. Calm down, nothing is deleted purposely. I'm probably not going to get it anyways.
  • Thanks for all the opinions though.
