Chopmarked Trade Dollars - a couple newps and post your own

Couple new chopmarked trade dollars I found over the last few months. Post your own below...
1874-S PCGS MS62 Chop mark. Love the look on this one, the chop placement is ideal.

1876 PCGS AU53 Chop mark. Any P mint chopmarked coin is scarce. This one also shares the reverse of the rare 76p type II/II.

I've often wondered, were the chop tools heated prior to use? The dark obverse chops on the 76 lead me to believe some were, although this could just as easily have been something settling in the cavity and reacting with the silver.

My most recent addition to my Chop Mark Date set and an amazing original survivor IMO, Former DDR #1 Chop Mark Collection
<< <i>Nice coins Dan, although I have to ask what purpose heating the punch tools up would serve? It would lessen their integrity while imparting no impact to lessen the resistance/hardness of the subject coin.
>>
Yeah, you got me there. I've seen a few that look like there was something in the process involving heat but like I said, it could just as likely be something else. Metals and material processing is not my forte.

Don't have a better picture of the second one. It's a 74-S. The mark on it between 3 and 4 o'clock is very deep but merely rectangular and corresponds to a normal mark on the reverse.
<< <i>Is it common for a trade dollar to have the same chop mark twice? >>
Yes, in many cases you'll see the same chop twice or many more on the same coin.
<< <i>Got this Japanese Trade Dollar that is chop marked.
Wow, that is a really rare Coin Carl. Great coin
