I hate it when this happens, sort of.

Back when I first started collecting again my first example of the key 1878cc was a pleasant old ANACS VF20 that was a bit overgraded but wholesome enough. I tried twice to "cross at any grade" with no luck. I used it as trade on my PCGS XF40 which I love, only losing about $50 on the flip. The dealer ended up putting it on back on HA where I had won it and it went for about 100$ less than he gave me for it and it appears that the next owner got it in the PCGS holder I always knew it deserved.

I am happy the way things worked out but----- damn you wicked cross over Game image Might have kept it in spare box if it had made it for me.

Sounds like you're into your trade dollar for $50 less than you thought and somebody else paid to get your 78-CC crossed to PCGS.

    Win win in my book.

I wonder if it was sent in raw when PCGS slabbed it. Might be interesting to ask the seller.

Ya I didn't really count the two cross over fees which put my loss around 100. Of course my PCGS xf40 has about doubled in price where the lower grade has only gained about 25-50%.

Honestly the coin is a dipped Cir that has retoned neutral in appearance and is a F15 details wise plus a few wispy hairlines. I always knew why it didn't but thought they were just being picky. I still like it and would add it but the buggers are pricey.

    Just for comparison

Looks like the Pcgs F-15 sold for $1985 and thats about $500 over Pcgs price guide. Crypto you should send that XF-40 to CAC to see if it would get a gold sticker.

Maybe not, JA isn't the biggest fan of dark coins dispite any other positive attrubites and the obv is on the dark side. It is about an AU50 IMO but what the powers at be net it to is always up in the air.

As for CAC I don't really see the need for outside validation of my set outside of slabs. The coins are what they are and were the best I could find and afford. Now I would have to be a fool not to submit the Group if the market is the same when it comes time to sell.

I like the coin itself, but it is too dark for my preference...Cheers, RickO

Final resting place ? It would be kind of funny if the owner cracked it out and put it in a Dansco 7070.
