MS63 max. Edited, was rushed for time. I'll say that these dollars from this date/mint come hammered. This is not one of those. Well used obverse and reverse dies. I'll deduct one point just because it falls under the norm. bob

Ugh, I have seen so many overgraded gsa Morgans from NGC in my grading opinion. Makes me wonder if they were planning a QVC special or something but it fell through and dumped a ton of them out there. I wouldnt be surprised if it is sitting in a 65 holder but even 64 is over the top and likely. I grade it a 63 max.
I would not be one of the KoolAid crowd as I have no more issues with "N" than "P" overall, foreigns included. But I agree the witch hunt spectre of some of the answers a bit off-putting.
Love that Milled British (1830-1960) Well, just Love coins, period.
<< <i>It should be 63, but NGC probably graded it 65. >>
Oh please. NGC is not that bad. It is to our (the collectors') advantage to have at least two viable grading services, and comments like this do not help that cause.
For the record I would have said MS-63. I think that MS-62 is on conservative side unless the mark on the cheek looks worse in person.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
<< <i> I don't know how you can say that 62 is over grade. >>
Because it's in an NGC holder Actually I would have pegged it as a 63 myself.....I thought the 'koolaid' comment would help people realize where I was coming from.

<< <i>Grade posted in OP. I disagree strongly, and think it's a solid 3 in hand. >>
Considering you can buy 3s for just about 2 money, if you aren't happy with the grade, just flip the thing and buy a 3.
Personally, I think NGC's grade is accurate to current standards (for once).
