looking for help with some coins I have

I have several coins I am trying to get help with but am really confused. I am new at this and don't understand some things about my coins. Is this a place I can ask questions to see if anyone knows an answer to something I am stumped on?

This is the place so feel free to "ask away".

Photographs are almost always a must since folks that are new to coins often have difficulty in describing what they are seeing. There are certain terms which are common that can be viewed on these forums using the search facility.

Do not do anything to the coins, no cleaning, polishing, wiping or messing with them.

That has to be first thing said. Now, go ahead and post your questions and pics if possible.

I have a 1955 nickel that seems to have every error known to man on it. I see cuds, doubling, D ove S other letters like a u that looks like a d, letters that look like stuff is stamped over top of them. The nickel itself is has multiple letters that are only half there and I and just confused on what to call all these errors. I have been trying to down load picture but it says pics are too large and I cant figure how to get them loaded on here

Go to photobucket.com and open up a free account. Load images from there.

If nothing else, copy and paste the urls from there to here

It looks like what we call "Post Mint Damage" -
the edge of the coin was hit with something.

This is not an error coin, but I can see how it would be puzzling.

when you select you pictures go yo "View" an it will give you 4 links. Select the bottom link the says "IMG". You can copy and paste that directly here.

The correct term is "upload" to this site.

Do a search for "photobucket". You'll get all the information you could possibly need to post photo's.

If you are having photo issues, you can always just email them to me and I will host and post them for you. brandon@bestofyesterdaycollectibles.com. Everyone is right about the nickel. That baby has been through the ringer. Lots of post mint damage but I can see how one would mistake it for an error coin.

hello and welcome to the board it is a great place to get your questions answered and for the most part there are very few grumpsters on here lol I am new here also and I ask questions all the time as education is important to all on here. We are very lucky to have a place like this to ask our questions even if we think they may be silly or stupid. There are great people on here to trade with also I like lamination peals and got a great one from BOB and love it !!! Some times the answers are a little short and snappy but don't let it get you all worked up. Have to go Antiques Road show is on i am so addicted lol
