2013 silver eagle enhanced coins

Does anybody know what the population numbers might be for the 2013 silver eagle enhanced coins. I have heard many times that if you didn't get your order in within the first 20 minutes with the mint your orders were delayed months. I think between that and pcgs not changing the 30 day submission dates (whichwasgood) a lot of people cancelled there orders. Plus the high cost and silver dropping in price I really don't see the mint making over 100,000 coins and not the 280,000 that was pre ordered. What is your opinion? Does anybody still have a lot of these in stock. Where all the ordered shipped out. I think this will be a surprise .

    As of 9/23/13, CoinNews.net reported:

"At some point, the United States Mint will likely update how many 2013-W American Silver Eagle Two-Coin Sets it sold, with cancellations and returns trimming its last reported sales figure of 281,310. CoinNews.net will publish any updates, if released, as well as revisit secondary market prices."

Since there has been no further update, my guess is the 281,310 number is probably very close to the final number.

A lot of them out there.... not likely to be anything more than flipper value for a while... long term, some collector interest but not high dollar value. Cheers, RickO

Returns and cancellations will get the final number down significantly but I would guess that still will be around 250k or just below...very near the SF set numbers

    Oh and:

  • The mint published a number in one of their weekly sales reports that was in the 230k - 240k range. They then quickly revised it back to the original 281k number after realizing the mistake.

I have to believe that the lower number wasn't a "typo" but was the new number from their database after cancellations and returns were factored in. They just did not want to publish that number yet.

That would make the 2013 set a lower mintage than the 2006 set which has always sold for a nice premium over issue price.

As Hattrick says, in todays Mint News Blog news letter:
"According to the US Mint, the revised unaudited sales total for the 2013 West Point Silver Eagle Set is 235,689 units."
    Linky for the whole article.
This is a great news letter worthy of the free subscription. Lots of info, published several times a week, give or take, depending on the news.

I think these are going to start to rise very shortly with these new mintage numbers, they are now lower mintage than the 2006 anniversary sets.
