What we go through to get to a coin show or my Silver Dollar show report

My daughter and I ( my wife 's back was hurting so she stayed home) left for the Silver Dollar show in Saint Charles ,Missouri at about 8 AM on Thursday. After a few minutes we stopped for breakfast at Hardee's. Soon refreshed we were back on the road. After a couple of hours we came to road construction where the traffic was stopped for a few minutes. After another 2 hours we again encountered road construction. Several times we were completely stopped. People were getting out of their cars and walking around on the interstate. It took us an hour and 45 minutes to go 6 miles! When traffic started moving again,we decided to get off the highway and eat lunch. We had a very nice lunch at Fazoli's. Another hour and 45 minute drive had us at our hotel for the evening. On Friday morning we had breakfast at the hotel before going to the show. We arrived at about 10:30 AM. The show is held at the Saint Charles Convention facility located at the Embassy Suites Hotel. It is an excellent venue with plenty of free parking. We quickly got our badges and entered the bourse floor. I immediately noticed that the action ( the show started on Thursday ) was very subdued. We started making our rounds of the floor. I was looking for PCGS AU 58 type coins before 1900. I saw an 1871 3 cent Silver in 58. It is a much better date. It was fully prooflike with super color. I was very tempted to buy it but I had recently purchased another common date 3 cent piece so I passed. I took a look at an 1814 Large Cent in 53. The early coins in 58 are a little too much money for me. It was very nice except for a pronounced nick above the second 1 in the date. I looked at several Barber Half Dollars but they were all dull and without luster. I looked at a Draped Bust Half Cent in 58. It was nice but it too had a couple of nicks on the reverse. Next we encountered Liz from J.J. Teaparty. She was very busy looking through boxes of coins both slabbed and raw. We next came to a dealer from Michigan that has a very nice stock of pre 1900 type coins. I spent a long time examining his 1807 Draped Bust Half Dollar in PCGS 53. It had a great strike and super color. It was just the kind of coin that I want for my set. He priced it at over 50% above PCGS price guides. I have placed bids at 50% above price guides and have bought coins at that level but I just could not pull the trigger on this coin. I am still thinking about it. For the first time in years I was also looking for 2 modern coins in PCGS 67 and 68. It was the old story of when you are looking for a certain coins you can not find them. There was a very noticeable lack of modern coins on the floor. We made a second pass of the floor but did not turn up anything. We were hungry so we drove to the other side of I-70 for lunch at a Chinese restaurant. It was mediocre at best except for the cherry pie. The pie was very, very good! After lunch we went back to the show. I purchased the QDB's book on the 1794-1804 Silver Dollars. It was now getting late in the afternoon so we decided to call it a day and head back to our hotel. A long and uneventful drive ( no construction ) had us back home before dark on Saturday. I had a very nice time playing with coins ,spending time with our daughter and eating cherry pie.

Have some mercy on these younger eyes!! lol I'm not one to correct grammar, but yeah, if that "solid block of text" were broken up, I would just have read the whole thing, and not just the responses to it, to see if I could figure it, or what it could have been about. Now, it'll be one of last things I read. Some stuff ending the 'bay, and TT is ending in a few minutes. But, no offense to the OP. I'm usually the one that rambles on. TT ends in 2 mins...gotta go!!
Oh, my.

<< <i>Cherry pie at a Chinese restaurant? >>
We also need the location of that restaurant. Because if there is good cherry pie in St. Louis, I need to know about it

Those just don't come that nice (as you described) and when they do are snatched up quickly.
Your set would have definitely been enhanced having obtained it as another isn't likely to come along soon.
