What's the thought on sharing photos of your stack?

mrpaseomrpaseo Posts: 4,753 ✭✭✭
There is plenty to see on the YouTube (that place makes me want to buy every time I look at it...lol).

Anyway, so aside from the weekly Metal-Porn, do you guys ever just lay it out for a photo shoot? I'm thinking about getting my small pile together for a reunion/photo op.

What's your take?

Ray

I used to do this when I started stacking. These days I am too short on time, plus the logistics just don't work- my stack is never all in the same spot. I'm also a bit wiser and more paranoid about having such information floating out here in cyberspace. I am content with the FPMP threads and posting neat odds and ends image

I would imagine getting the stack together for most of us would be an issue. Scattered about, SDB and even buried would make it hard to get the stack together. I understand the paranoia as well (I'm sure everyone on here has some) though I do like to document (With receipts and photos) all my PMs.

I have a severe case of "stack" envy.

Maybe I am missing the point but is it just to show off "harder, better, faster, stronger"? (can't get daft Punk out of my head)image

The photos are nice though, really.image

I do not do photo's...just do not have the equipment or the inclination to learn.... and, of course, there is the security issue - and I am a security professional (or, I was, anyway). Cheers, RickO

Not interested in sharing pics of my stack. 2013 is not the year 1995 was the internet.
  • What stack ?!

I tried taking the "big shot" on a couple of occasions. It's really hard to make it look attractive. You have to have depth, backgrounds, scale to make stuff pop. And you'r eworking with all sorts of plastic rolls, boxes, mint capsules, slabs of different sizes, etc. It's ok from an insurance and archive perspective, but in terms of cool factor it just winds up looking kinda crappy when us amateurs do it.

That and my stack changes constantly and it's almost never somewhere where it can be photographed.

So I take shots of related items from time to time, and record and archive just about every purchase I make for my records. And I like trying to make "wallpaper" that I and others find attractive or interesting.

I would rather we not be different by "how much" we stack. That will vary by ability to do so.

I like it better that we differ on how committeed we are to stacking, regardless of our individual resources to do so. Our discussions serve as a picture of our committment.

I love juicy PM photos, but there is no need to show it all at once.

Is there still an internet? I thought it had been reduced to Google, YouTube (owned by Google), Facebook and cloud-based data storage.

I suppose Twitter should be included but eventually it will be owned by Facebook.

It's still there... .com, .net, .org, .gov, .biz ect. if you scratch the surface.

What you probably meant to say is that the Masses have been reduced to Google answers, youtube conspiracy theorys, and NSA-acesbook.F, a Government-based data compilation.

I tend to agree with Mr weiss though,

Having a wide variety of highly photographical material bunched into one place indeed makes for some lack luster images.

I can see if you were shooting a theme, which could be a gram of PM, to a organized stack of Kg bars...

The idea to photograph and document your PMs with receipts of amounts purchased is wise though.

The weekly Friday Porn thread is enough imo, since my opinion was asked of.

I just photograph items as I get them, for my own documentation purposes. I wouldn't be inclined to show a picture of all my stuff due to logistics and security concerns. Personally, I get more out of seeing a pic of an individual item or two in detail versus seeing a whole pile of like items.

All great answers and fully understandable with security, logistics, photo skills and the loss of something when taken in a mass pile from afar.

Thank you for your input everyone,
