But the Cardinals players whining about Puig's showmanship on the basepaths isn't equally offputting, despite numerous examples of their own 'unsportsmanlike' exuberance? This article with numerous clips of St. Louis players acting exactly the way they chastised the Dodgers for doing is just more ammo for the 'we're sick of the Cardinals' story.

In my defense, I didn't watch the NLCS :-)

The Cardinals and their holier-than-thou stuff are pretty darn annoying, too.

LOL. So according to the author of that fine work of journalism, clapping one's hands a whole 5 times after making a close play at the plate or getting the final out shows a lack of class? How many claps are allowed? 2? 3 perhaps if it's a grand slam or unassisted triple play? Please. Another clip was of Michael Wacha pumping his fist- *gasp*- ONCE!- after striking out a batter to escape a bases-loaded jam! How "unsportsmanlike"! Perhaps the Dodgers should file bullying charges. LMAO.

He was simply showing the hypocrisy surrounding the Cardinals' whining about 'Mickey Mouse style of play', it's pretty silly however that this had to be spelled out for you!

No, what apparently needs spelling out- for both the author of the article (and apparently his leg humpers as well) is that there's a difference between simply clapping your hands after a significant or game changing play and flipping a bat in the direction of and leering at your opponents' bench on something that wasn't even remotely a significant or game changing play. Overtly provocative acts like the latter are how fights can get started.

And the cardinals apologists know no end to which they will distort and spin in trying to defend their teams ridiculous antics. Look don't sit there condemning one team's exuberance for the game while your team does the same thing albeit in different ways. We need more expressiveness from our players, baseball is quickly becoming irrelevant because there's such little excitement for so many people in the game.

<<<The constant complaining from Red Sox hitters - particularly in game 1 - turned me off big-time. I'm pretty sure Dustin Pedroia has never once been throw a strike in his entire career. >>>

Usually, it's just Papi that whines about every borderline strike call. I think Game 1 was more about the frustration about being no-hit for 8+ innings, which led to complaints by guys that usually keep their mouths shut.

"...while your team does the same thing albeit in different ways". Right. And a violin is the same thing as a rutabaga, only in a different way. LOL. Interesting how you're talking about how you want more "exuberance" and 'expressiveness" yet on a different thread you talk about how baseball should be more regulated in that catchers shouldn't defend the plate and runners shouldn't slide into them to knock the ball free. So expressiveness is apparently OK as long as you get to decide what's expressive. Got it.

I'm all for enthusiasm about the game... I love seeing good plays and competitive games. What I'm sick of is all the whining from armchair experts who think they should be the arbiter of what is fair- and when reasoning and/or logic trump their grade school level rants against a certain team they inevitably have to label it spin and resort to childish attacks against their fans instead- no matter what team it is...

Having seen your posts on various other threads it appears you like to keep throwing out strawmen and tangential arguments until you get the last word... so please be my guest. I'll make it easy for you. You win; the Cards stink, and we STL fans are all pretentious jerks. Happy now?
This is my last post to this thread. I'm going to resume doing some productive work then later I'll be watching the WS tonight with some friends, one of whom is a diehard BoSox fan. It will be a good time. No matter who wins.

I'd agree with you if the complaining hadn't started in the first inning.

You trying to equate Puig's celebrations and a catcher getting annihilated kind of shows how far fans like you are willing to go to try to defend your team. Really, pal? You think these are the same things? Give me a break!

No, you're not, and neither is your team - unless it happens to be YOUR team doing the celebrating. So what if Puig tosses his bat or yips at the opposing dugout? It's no more offensive than Carpenter acting like a fool after he slides into third on a triple.

I never said the cards stink, I said smug fans like you and your so-called 'best fans in baseball' are the worst.

If there's any karma in the universe it will be a Red Sox win so we can enjoy a drastic reduction in the smug cloud.

Cardinals vs Red Sox is a no win situation for anybody outside of St. Louis or the Red Sox bandwagon universe. If the Cards win we'll be subjected to nonstop "St. Louis has the best fans" nonsense. If the Sox win it'll mobilize the ginormous wannabe fan base/ Pink Hat (the majority of them who don't really understand the basic fundamentals of baseball to begin with) universe. If Detroit had advanced then there would've been countless mentions of "finally a victory for a beleaguered city" rhetoric. It's really a no-win scenario.
